Neko Atsume kitty collector -- any other addicts?

I managed to catch Chairman Meow on the fireplace and got a picture. But still no memento from him, or from Jeeves or Sapphire.

But a new record for silver fish from Tubbs: 72.

I got Sapphire's memento last night. It took a week after getting Jeeves memento. I'm just glad I was finally able to get rid of the Tower of Treats. It's so big. So I have the Metropolis and the Cardboard Cafe out so I can get Bob the Cat and Sassy Fran. I've had Bob the Cat 5 times now but I still haven't gotten a picture. Once I get them I will have all the cats unless they release another update.

I just realised I still don't have Peaches memento. I thought I had gotten it ages ago.

Chairman Meow is my last holdout, and I secretly don't want him to be too generous with his memento. I read the game has been updated approximately once a season, so maybe he can wait until summer?

I still need mementos from half a dozen or so of the rare cats, as well as that rascally Rascal. So I don't see myself getting bored with the current setup any time soon.

Plus even when I do get all the mementos, I can continue to amuse myself by trying out the perfect food & toy combos for maximum gold fish. As well as go back to some of the toys I like aesthetically (or for cuteness) but they're not the best for attracting the rares.

Good points :)

Plus, the nice things about focusing on Chairman Meow is that his favourite toy is small, and his large toy (sunken fireplace) is not only new-to-me but also aesthetically pleasing. I've been having fun picking up toys like the fishbowl, which is officially tied with the glass vase at/near the top of my favourite toys list.

The fishbowl was one of the first toys I bought (as you might be able to tell from my avatar!), but I haven't had it out much lately because I've been concentrating on catching the rares. But I'm looking forward to being able to have it out all the time.

My favourite small toys that have nothing to do with the rares are the fishbowl, the pingpong ball, and the pile of leaves.

My backyard is full of cushions (sheep, pancake, hamburger etc.) and the choco tunnel for Apricot. Plus the cardboard house since I'm still waiting on Ms Fortune. :P

When I get Apricot's memento I'll turn it over to items for Frosty since I suspect that'll take longest.

Just checked my catbook for Apricot and it says her 3 top goodies used in my yard are:
- stump house
- tiramisu cube
- sunken fireplace

But that has as much to do with what I have out as anything else -- the stump house and cube are permanent fixtures in my yard, since they each hold 2 cats at once.

Finally got the memento for Conductor Whiskers! I'm only missing the picture for Sassy Fran. I still need mementos for Peaches, Ms. Fortune, Sassy Fran, Chairman Meow, Guy Furry and Bob. I keep switching out between the Meteopolis and the Cardboard House because o hate the Metropolis so much.

Apricot likes the orange cube, the fairy tale parasol and the sheep cushion on my main game. On my iPad game, he likes the tiramisu cube and the stump house. Rascal seems to care less about the toy and more about the food. I only get him when I have sashimi, ritzy bits, etc. He likes the ChooChoo and the lucky cushion though.

Good weekend for mementos: after Rascal's came Frosty's yesterday (18 visits), and Ms Fortune's this morning (8 visits). :cat:

"Done" does not compute. :D

I've been thinking about installing an Android emulator on my laptop so I can start a second version. If I did, I'd be able to be more strategic about which toys I bought, etc. It would be interesting to compare my progress to the somewhat haphazard approach I started out with on the tablet.

I"m only awaiting mementos from Chairman Meow, Conductor Whiskers and Frosty to complete the collection in my primary game (phone). I've collected about half of the mementos in my secondary game (Kindle), but I'm not as actively trying to complete it. I've been doing fun things like buying all the same type of goodie (for example: pyramids) and setting them up around the garden.

I got Apricots memento last night so now I just need Frosty, Sassy Fran and Bob's mementos. I've been trying to earn more fish though so I haven't been putting out the right kind of food to really attract them. I was almost out of both kinds of fish so I put out a few of my higher earning toys to get more fish.

Has anybody analysed whether they get more fish as gifts if they put out more expensive food?

I've just sort of been playing randomly, not trying to get specific cats, and it seems when I put out a combination of expensive toys plus expensive food, I get more fish.

They've been really stingy with the gold fish, though. :drama:

Ooooh we're going through such withdrawals - we stayed at a hotel for May Day and we forgot our iPad in the room when we left. We're thisclose to calling the hotel and asking them to feed the cats for us :D

I finally got all the rare cats to visit at least once, without peeking for clues as to what to put out. I've had all but the two new ones for over a week. I bought the tower of treats and the parasol for a long time and kept them out a lot, and finally they both came in the middle of the night, so no photo.

My strategy was to completely change out the toys every morning and put out expensive food. EventuallyI I got them all.

There was a time a little over a week ago where my yard was almost empty all the time, and so it was for my daughter, who also plays. It lasted for a couple of days and then went back to normal for both of us.

So now comes the memento collecting. I have all the regular cats. Rascal will come daily to the Royal Chair for me. I only have mementoes from Ramses and Senor Don Gato. So I have lots of fun ahead.

I'm spending all my gold in food and saving the silver for a remodel. I own all the goodies now. I'll just have to wait for the next update to do any more shopping.

There! About 8 pages of postings held back.

I have actually been keeping track of how much gold I get with specific toy-food combos. And while I think I do get more gold with the expensive food (and, to a lesser extent, expensive toys), I'm not sure it "pays for itself" if you know what I mean -- so spending 12 gold on sashimi is probably not going to give you 12 more gold in return than you would have had for frisky bits.

Plus you resent Tubbs way more when he scoffs your expensive food than when he eats frisky or thrifty bits.

However I also figure that trying to maximize your returns is sort of beside the point of the game. :D

Frisky bits is the only food that more than pays for itself, according to what I read on the internet when I was first starting. For me, sashimi often attracts fewer cats than cheap food, so I only use it to attract a rare. Tuna will certainly fill up the yard quickly, so it is fun to put out.

I find that the kotasu is the object that consistently attracts the most cats and fish.

I agree about the kotatsu, though I haven't had it out for a while since I've been focussing on the rares. Plus it's very cute.

However I've also found that the tower of treats gives me pretty good returns. And the bureau with pots.

Oddly enough, Tubbs has never visited me when I've had expensive food out - only when I've had Frisky bits out.

When I get Apricot's memento I'll turn it over to items for Frosty since I suspect that'll take longest.
Actually, Frosty took the longest to actually show up in my yard, but once she started showing up, it only took six visits to get her memento.

Humph. Frosty's visited me 29 times and still no memento... :p

But I did pretty well getting mementos while on vacation. I now only need Sassy Fran, Frosty, Peaches, Sapphire and Jeeves. I've given up trying on the latter 2 for now.
