I agree with the poster who named "Sweeney Todd". Excellent for Ice Dance.
I would suggest "Little Shop of Horrors". Love that musical!
I would suggest "Little Shop of Horrors". Love that musical!
Barnum 1983 World FD:Torvill and Dean used Broadway show tunes for their iconic free dances (Mack & Mabel in 1982) and an a non-vocal arrangement of Barnum especially composed for them, in 1983.
I still cry whenever I watch this:Ragtime (Matt Savoie did skate to music from it)
Musicals like Dreamgirls or Rent
YES PLEASE!!I would suggest "Little Shop of Horrors". Love that musical!
The music from Candide is really nice. I have seen skaters use it but not overly so.Aside from Phantom of the Opera, it seems like most musicals aren't warhorses and would offer a lot of options for skaters. I'd love to see a skater do Candide. That's probably been used before but it's not overused.
^ I also remember Liz skating to "Jellicle Ball" from "Cats" in a pro competition/exhibition(?) back in the 1990's.
YES PLEASE!!
I also recently saw the musical Falsettos (its limited run was recorded and just released as a special event in theatres - it will also be airing on PBS in October).......[/SPOILER] I don't think many would want to use the music.

The Boyfriend! Love loads of songs from that.1920's FD .C/L could do a good job would be right up their street
I love this thread so much, because I'm in the musical theatre industry and half of the suggestions here are what we would consider audition warhorses in that world It's really interesting to see how different music speaks to different groups/purposes.
I don't think the music from The Rocky Horror Show (or the movie version The Rocky Horror Picture Show) has been used very often. I love the music though. My personal favourite might be Hot Patootie.
Yeah they did. "Won't You Charleston With Me?"Didn't Scott and Tessa skate their Charleston OD to music from this?
Here's Rudy Galindo skating to Transvestite from Transylvania/Time Warp

Same!
Well, formerly (left that world in 2010)
This thread is *shockingly* missing one of my favorite (off and Broadway) shows so far that has a little something for everyone (is there anything on this list that Perkova couldn't do justice to?)

A veteran skater could use "I'm still here" from Follies.
Plushenko, Savchenko, or Leonova!
Actually someone just skated to Sweeney Todd at Lake Placid last weekend. Too had I don't remember which team.
