Shifrin

3z-3t slow into it, nice, purposeful movement in choreo, think she could look up more to make it more effective

Shimada

Nice transitions out of 2a, much better musical engagement than first outing, playful and fun

Wada

Lovely positions in flying camel, soaring 3f, excellent basics, soft arms, hammering technique on toe jumps that she could improve

Park

3s-3t not much speed out of it, solo 3f looked two-footed and probably under, some nice moves in the field, looked like she skated up to her ability

Yujae Kim

Pink sparkly dress that would make Ann Patrice McDonough proud, 3z-3t, nice layback spin, needs more distinctive moments in choreo, it all blends into a generic pleasant niceness

Lengyelova

Good 3f to start, nice solo 2a, spins are somewhat slow, stepped out of 3z-3t combo and underrotated, she’s got some spark to her, compelling

Kaljuvere

3z-3t with arms overhead, she is on today! Nice full body movement in step sequence, nice spins to end, good job!

Ko

3z-3t nice, she could finish her moves more, smiling through her 3f, pretty good at speeding up and slowing down with tempo of the music, nice skate, more polishing to do in comparison to Kim, but she’s also more interesting and engaged than Kim

Pezzetta

Enormous 3z-3t, nice 2a on the beat of the music, wild 3f, choreo looks fairly simple, nice elements in isolation and needs to engage with program to make a cohesive whole

Handicapping field for JGP Final chances:

Shimada and Wada are a lock if they win gold or silver. Bronze isn’t completely locked yet, but I can’t recall a time when a skater with 15 + 11 didn’t make it. The only way that would happen would be if you had seven different gold medalists, all of whom earned at least 26 points; so that’s about a lock. A 4th place would put Shimada or WADA in the 24 point tiebreak with Gladki, which the Japanese skater would win.

Kim and Ko: it’s the end of the line for these Koreans if they can’t pass at least one of Shimada or Wada in the standings as 22 points (achieved in the worst tiebreak way possible) won’t cut it). Gold locks their spot in final. Silver puts in tiebreak with Gladki for total score achieved.

Pezzetta is just starting her campaign and has Slovenia as her second event. At least a bronze would help put her in the conversation.
