Homick/Buelow feels to me like they wanted to skate together but he can't jump, so she was convinced to switch to ice dance.

Pedersen/Starr - another twizzle issue for her, plus they seemed far apart on the first set then got closer together on the second set. I'm not sure I think this partnership has much of a long-term future. Maybe I'll feel differently by Nats.

Pedersen/Starr slow and careful. Rough twizzles for her. Straightline lift very smooth and nice. I said something about this yesterday, but somehow she looks weaker with him than she did with Jeffrey. Maybe Jeffrey was just better at soaking up the spotlight so people didn't pay as much attention to Yahli.

Jeffrey brings a level of intensity to all of his partnerships that is certainly missing with Benjamin here.

Mark says she-Kobor was hit by a truck five weeks ago. Good Lord.
It certainly makes me even more impressed with this team and their potential. I really liked them yesterday and while they're TES means they're going to drop in the standings today, they have talent to become contenders in the future.

This felt like they took forever to get through their programme. I prefer the Kobor twins.
Yes, agreed. The Kobor twins have the greater long-term potential - and are already a much more interesting team to me.

I'm loving the conversation and information Sara Hurtado is sharing during the warm-up groups.

Poles

Way slowed down through twizzles, nice mature look and created some interesting shapes and angles

OK, seeing this program from Dania and Theo a second time, I feel now like it's too subdued for them. Until the end, it's not giving them enough wow moments. Maybe they should have gone with the original version of the song.

Really aren’t getting the step levels, you can see they can glide with deep, curving edges so now need to work on clarity of steps and turns, good lifts, strong performance

Finelli/Bucciarelli

Slow careful twizzles, passionate interpretation, some good unison, overall, moving too slowly to create a masterful technical impact. I’d have them behind the French.

Finelli/Bucciarelli - that was fine.

I'm laughing so much at the post-skating analysis from Sara, Mark & Ted - talking about how FinBuc didn't get the calls they thought they would in Czechia, and Sara commenting that for many Euro teams their JGPs are their first competition of the season. Agree with Ted - come over to Lake Placid in late July if you want pre-JGP feedback!

GauThier - did they completely change their FD from their first JGP? I feel like I would have remembered a Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves FD - mostly because that's another '90s epic movie soundtrack that doesn't get used often enough these days. I'm not sure about his costume - which seems like it would have fit in the more recent Taron Egerton "Robin Hood" movie. Well, I rather enjoyed that.

Gauthier/Thieren

Very nice unison and spacing, good program composition with well-integrated elements, smart to move back to juniors

I was totally with Ted when Mark and Sara said there weren’t many competition opportunities in Europe, and Ted was like you have way more competitions than North America! Of course, Lake Placid is very nicely placed on the calendar for early season feedback.

Wolfkostin/Tsarevski

Twizzles looked good today, dynamic, big skating, work to do on finishing leg line and synchronization

Canadians had more refinement, Americans had more power

I’ve been waiting for how many seasons to see a clean FD (no falls) from Wolfkostin? Well done here!

WolfTsar - Moulin Rouge! That was outstanding! Much improved over Czechia.

Mark just mentioned Dimitry is writing a novel - is it about an ice dancer who completely ghosts their partner weeks before a major competition? And then emerges a year and a half later with a new partner and has to face the old partner A at new competitions, fighting for international assignments? And new partner was unceremoniously dumped by a previous partner via social media? And former partner B mines the solo dance circuit to find a new partner and also shows up at those same competitions, fighting for the same international assignments? Because that's a novel I think we'd all be interested in reading!
