I think they need to spend some time watching the music videos for these songs to get a better sense of the performance they need. The skating seemed a bit cautious, and safe, particularly in the patterns.

Loved how the Carandiuc's changed from straight leg into attitude in the middle of the first twizzles. He can also move his torso, which I never expect from men dressed in layers.

Still love Hienne/Varescon. (I always wonder if a new team is as good as I remember.) I hope they last through the grinder of FRA politiks.

❤️❤️❤️ Aboian/Veselukhin's RD. I suspect I'll like this as much or more than my favorite Senior RD's. I don't know how Veselukhin combines style and elegance like that, but, wow.

I'm not sure who thought Deych should choose to dance Latin anything, when there's a choice.

It wasn't that Yamashita/Nagata were off beat, but they missed the groove in their music. He did try in parts of their non-touch steps, but it didn't sustain. I loved her open hip first position in the rotational lift.

Hanretty and Barton were talking about how the lift was predictably the last element. Hanretty said he was texted by a coach, who said that because the two patterns each take up a specific amount of time, it's easier to fit the lift at the end.

I really like Yin/Yang: they attacked that and danced to their music. I wish more streamlined costumes for them and a smoother entrance to their lift. (((His neck))).

Hanretty said that Reverchon/di Muzio are still Novice age-eligible, but she has senior movement quality: so much clarity, and she kept performing, despite the errors. (I don't know about him, because I couldn't take my eyes off her.)

Last year, it seemed like all of the junior teams were Arribert's, and Lyon seemed to be on life support, but that seems to have changed.

Anderson and Dawson's energy and movement quality is so well-matched. I love watching them. Her leg position in the last twizzle was so Hubbell.

After 2 of 3 groups we have an ice resurfacing.

Deych/Hu

one foot turns that were very close together, I'd review the twizzles, his second set looked a bit off, nice unison and classic look, nice rotational lift, little fist pump from her right after ending pose

I feel for Deych/Hu having to face a strong American team at both their events (Robertson/Rohnner and A/V). As a top 4 jr team from the U.S., you'd think they would have gotten to anchor at least one of the JGPs and be sent with a weaker teammate. To be fair to USFS, perhaps Robertson/Rohner was supposed to be that teammate, but it seemed obvious after the summer, that that wasn't going to be the case.

Hienne/Varescon

Lovely setting of a mood, nice carriage and extension, could add more clarity to lift positions, struggling on twizzles yet again.

Anderson/Dawson

nice edgework through the one foot turns-his looked a bit stronger and he got the higher call (1 & 2), twizzles okay, you really wouldn't know they are a newer team with the way they skate together. Smooth yet used tension quite well, too. Well done

Aboian/Veselukhin

doing a Neset/Markelov tribute program (in look and opening choreo spin movement if not in the use of the same song), open skating, steady lifts which are covering a good amount of ice, edge quality noticeably not as strong as Canadians in their basic skating, got out of sync on twizzles, but completed, lovely flexibility in the dance spin, performing with gusto

That was spectacular from Abo/Ves. :respec: I applauded right here in my room. It was remarkable how much speed and freedom they skated with, after having looked a little slow and cautious in the RD, especially the patterns.

(Of course, if patterns are their weakness, they ought to do GREAT in seniors. )

The rare gender-bending lift in the choreo character step sequence was a nice feature. I enjoy the quality of skating from Japanese skaters no matter the discipline. The skating generally has a nice flow, and clean, effortless speed.
