And we are live in Bangkok with Ted (where it is hot and humid) and with Mark in Nottingham.

What a night for my internet provider to be doing o-dark-hundred maintenance in my area. Managed to turn on the mobile hotspot with my phone provider about halfway through Ehrhard/Pellegris, who look about the same as ever, but I missed their first three elements (which were all red boxes).

Guo/Zhang were decent except he completely missed his edge on the SBS spin, otherwise they'd probably have hit 60 in the SP. They're a little on the bland side of things with regard to their presentation skills.

Moudden/Garcia - she had knee surgery at the beginning of May & was off the ice for a couple months & unable to jump until the beginning of August, so they're just happy to be here. She looks like she's been through a growth spurt while he hasn't hit his yet, so this pairing may not last beyond juniors.

Moss/Galbavy - decent 3tw, he held on for the SBS 2a, the rest of the elements were solid & their presentation skills are light years ahead of Guo/Zhang.

After 2 of the 3 groups we have an ice resurfacing but also an in-house show from the audience.

The SP results so far:

I managed to wake my laptop up just moments before Windows was about to start an update - I managed to postpone it until later :)

Zilkova/Becerra - VERY new, developmental team.

Callahan/Furman - if I'm going to be forced to endure two cover versions of "Fly Me to the Moon" in one junior pairs sitting, I'll take MossGal who are the better team in every way. Beau is miles ahead of Vladimir and it showed in pretty much all of their elements.

Yudin/Rossi Lopez - not terrible, just not great - sloppy by the end.

Wood/Lapsky - Sloppy from start to finish - TES box went like this - red red red grey red red green. I seriously wondered if they'd get a green GOE for that last element (the step sequence) too. She is a better performer than her mother though, so that's a positive.

As Ted said, they have only been together for a short time (5 months?). Beau has previous pairs experience with another partner. Vladimir is new to pairs but has been competing previously in singles. They are a work in progress :)

Hu/Wang - 3tw was the highlight; she botched her 2a; lift was a L1 and not at all impressive which is surprising for any Chinese team; score is about right.

Jarmoc/Witkowski - bit sloppy on the SBS spins but everything else was quality, even if they did only have a 2tw and throw 2f, but surprised at their score being as high as it was.

Napolitano/Comi - busy spring & then he was in the hospital with tonsillitis, so their prep time hasn't been optimal; lots of nice elements but the music edit is terrible & just sort of peters away at the end. I'd have probably had them ahead of Yudin/Rossi Lopez.

Desrochers/Thrasher - they told Julie Marcotte they wanted something "fun, sharp & edgy" - three words no one has EVER associated with any of the trash choreo Julie Marcotte usually gives her teams. I guess Julie decided to step out of her wheelhouse of vanilla spice adult contemporary emo crap for them & it's alright, even if Jazmine still has issues with her jumps & throws. I can't fault their score but I'm always left feeling a bit (or a lot) underwhelmed by this team.

Jarmoc/Witkowski - nice 2tw; SBS 3t+2a - he puts his hand down on the 3t; good throw 2f; nice lift; SBS 3s - decent; alright DS; another solid lift; throw 2s - fine; decent choreo seq & combo spin to end. It was a perfectly nice program to that ol' pairs chestnut of "Another Love" by Tom Odell.

Moss/Galbavy - 3tw - bit crashy on the landing; SBS 2s; really nice lift; throw 3s - two-footed landing; SBS 2a+1a - both good and then she fell as she caught her toepick turning out of the landing; throw 2lo - okay; choreo seq & DS both nice; okay pairs combo to end. TES is behind JarWit & I think they probably are going to wind up behind them overall.

Guo/Zhang - HUGE 4tw; throw 3f - also huge; SBS 2a+2a+seq - she fell on the 2nd one; throw 3lo - two-foot landing; nice lift; ugly-ass FODS where she's catching her free leg like Metelkina does; decent pairs combo spin; SBS 2lo; decent 2nd lift; throwaway choreo seq; really - their skating skills/PCS is nowhere near the same level as any of the other teams in this group even though they're skating to the easiest music with "The Greatest Showman". Huge score due to the 4tw and the throw triples.

Desrochers/Thrasher - beautiful 3tw; SBS 2a+1a+2a - first two jumps were fine, sloppy on the last one & then she basically fell on the landing with both hands supporting her weight on the ice by the end; throw 3lo - bit pitched forward on the landing; decent lift; throw 3s - she falls; BODS - he gutted out the exit of it & they got negative GOE for it; good 2nd lift; SBS 2s - and she two-footed the landing; another throwaway choreo seq that doesn't deserve the positive GOE it got; combo spin to end. TES is probably going to get them at least silver.

Yup. Hmph.
