As Naomi and Lachlan were skating I was thinking what was their team thinking having them just do singles and doubles all across the rink? They think that’s going to secure a spot in the final?

Then I’m thinking how are they gonna upgrade this program for the senior Grand Prix.

This team has been together long enough to be able to produce more than singles and doubles and not play it safe. Was a bit disappointing.

The other Canadian team also had senior-level presentation and easy technical content. Really, if you can’t do a 3 twist by age 19-20 you’re going nowhere.

Agreed I mean in the case of Naomi and Lachlan and they also skate seniors and look senior so they couldn’t try a triple anything? I mean their base value for a lot of their stuff was between a point and a half and two points and you’re skating against two Chinese teams and two Canadian teams and you wanna make it to the final?

Despite what Ted was saying, trying to pump up Desrochers/Thrasher, they aren't going anywhere on the senior level, otherwise they'd be competing senior since Canada has a real dearth of decent senior teams at the moment. This is their third season together and I know there were all the excuses about how Jazmine was new to competitive skating each of the last two seasons, but that excuse doesn't really apply now, especially since they made the JGPF last season and managed to eek out a bronze there then laid a goose egg of a performance at Jr Worlds.

Same goes for Williams/Lewer, who actually had tougher tech content last season than they were attempting on the JGP this season. I swear, they used to attempt a 3tw and were trying at least one throw triple last season. It was a mistake to have sent them out on the GP last season and, if anything, they seem to have regressed this season - which is par for the course with all of the WASA teams. All in all, right now, US jr pairs is looking pretty bleak.

Not the technical content they needed to compete with the top teams, but they have lovely skating skills, and are an enjoyable couple to watch.

Some of the technical content is very impressive, but obviously still a lot of work to do on the performance, and the pair content.
