JGP #1 - Riga LAT - Pairs SP & FS

ZhangFeng - oh dear... "Notre Dame de Paris" for their music. These teams are really trying me this morning with their music choices.

SBS 2a+2a+2t - pretty good; 3tw - fast rotation for her; throw 3f - very nice; first lift - solid; FODS - difficult entrance, well done; SBS 2lo - fine; choreo seq - they are what they are; second lift - not as impressive as the first; throw 3lo - she had no hope of landing that with his wild throw; combo spin - finished behind the music by quite a bit.

Should be enough to stay ahead of WilLew overall comfortably but they've left the door very open for KempEliz to take the gold here.

KempEliz - "Clair de Lune" I'm in.

3tw - lovely; SBS 3s+1a+1a - very nice; SBS 3t - good; throw 3f - messy, two-footed landing for her; first lift - nice enough; throw 3lo - gorgeous; combo spin - nice; there are some really lovely choreographic touches here and there in this program; second lift - also beautiful; choreo seq - nice; BODS - good.

Well, this will win by a LOT. Just such a wonderful program.

Clair de Lune is my most disliked warhorse so this podium have been really trying me with their music choices.

Kemp/Elizarov skating like a senior team who wandered into the competition by mistake. Great throw loop, and I really liked the forward camel lift in their choreo sequence and the Charlotte entry to the death spiral.

Wow the Canadian pair, they have matured so much and so delicate the artistry from Ava! They will become the top Canadian team, are they age eligible for senior?
Yes, this is their first season of senior eligibility.

Loved that. And love Debussy. That choreo move is everything. :swoon:

Medals will be awarded after the Jr Women FS.

The medal ceremony took place after the Jr Women's ceremony (all on that live stream). They played a rather "bombastic" version of O Canada! 🇨🇦

Double Twist 3 - difficulty with the landing, and a stumble for Romane

Pair Combo Spin 3
Hand-to-Hip Lift 3

Back Outside Death Spiral 2
Throw 3S - slight free foot touch down

That was a bit rough, and they certainly looked disappointed with the performance. Just lacking flow, and confidence throughout.

79.12 = 6th Place
122.81 = 7th Place

Alzbeta Kviderova/Jindrich Klement 🇨🇿
Age: 17/17
Coach: Petr Bidar
Music: Another Love by Tom Odell

Double Twist 2 (3 after review)
2A+SEQ+A* - both had problems
2T - Jinrich doubled, Alzbeta put hands down
Throw 3S
Reverse Lasso Lift 3
Back Inside Death Spiral 1
Hand-to-Hip Lift 3

Choreo Sequence
Throw 2F

Pair Combo Spin 3 (4 after review)

The jump sequence was a bit of mess after Alzbeta struggled on the first jump, and so the 2nd jump didn't count. Unfortunately that sort set the tone for the rest of the performance, and they finished well before the music.

75.78 = 7th Place
124.54 = 6th Place

Choreo Sequence - perfectly synchronized butterflies were nice

Good commitment to the performance, and the character of the music. Solid technical elements with the exception of the side-by-side jumps, but Clelia was close on both of those elements.

80.43 = 5th Place
126.30 = 5th Place

Pair Combo Spin 4 (3 after review)

Interesting to see a Chinese pair that is clearly two singles skaters rather than what we have come to expect which is to see strong pair elements, and weaker solo elements. The opening jump sequence started way apart, and came back together for the 3rd jump, which is also unusual.

85.30 = 4th Place
132.60 = 4th Place

Some strong elements, and solid skating. More along the lines of what we expect from Chinese pairs in terms of the difficulty in the pairs elements, and less difficulty in the individual elements.

160.76 = 2nd Place
