I'm awake but I haven't been paying super-close attention during the first group. Going to sleep after Sherry & Angela skate.

My :cat: woke me and I opted to get up to watch - there were a couple of standouts in the first group to make it worthwhile :)

Interesting that Dibbern SUI had performed in the "Art on Ice" tour.

Sherry Zhang - good 2a; falls on the 3z so no combo; 3lo - bit of a wild leg on the landing... More of the same from her, despite being an absolutely lovely skater in every other regard.

20 of 31 skaters are finished - another ice resurfacing underway before the final two groups.

Strong skate for Okada to "Space Table Symphony" (odd title). Saved her 3Lz-3T for last.

I just woke up in time for the last group. Gonna need to get used to the Barton blathering all over again lol

68? I think girls overscored here. Neat, tidy and that`s something. But programs look empty compared to seniors. And, no performace quality yet. Wouldn`t a top of 60 be more appropriate?

Watched a few on replay

Dibbern
Smile by Charlie Chaplin, nice use of edges into 2a, 3r bit tight, 3z-3t with edge pull technique, choreographer has given her some facial expressions to do and she can hopefully make those look more natural as season progresses, good little skater

Goidina
eyes a bit downcast, needs to look up to express more, 3r, held Ina Bauer into 2a, flying sit could use more fly, 3z-3t better technique than Dibbern but 3t did look short, nice elongated movement throughout the steps, skating with good power, speed, and emotion through the end

Zhang
pink sparkly dress to East of Eden, interested to see if she goes for a 3-3 here since she didn't really have that combo last season, opens with okay 2a, falls on 3z--welp there goes the combo, 3r with free leg swinging out--I would review, nice spiral, not her day technically, ends with compelling spin

Shao
darker very sparkly pink dress, 3t-3t good, 2a, delicate affect, using her face to express the music, 3r with a swinging free leg--likely short, nice debut

Huh
lime green dress, 2a from steps, but kinda small, 3r good with strong controlled landing, 3z-3t fast rotations, I'd review the toe, though, perky expression through the steps, nice new talent for Korea

Takagi
Setting a mood to begin taking time with her movements, big 3z-3t, 3r, good musical interpretation, 2a turns out, losing some speed in the flying sit spin

Kim, Y.
elegant in black, easy 2a to open, 3f-3t very toe-axeled on toe and stepped out with obvious under, 3r, skating through the music and not keeping up with the music's speed or subtleties, I don't understand why her team doesn't seem to understand her interpretive capabilities--give her something easier and more straightforward to work with

Okada
drama arms to open, wonderful basic skating, very few pushes and she's already across the ice, 3r neat and tidy, 2a, 3z-3t nice, good layback spin with nicely-centered and held positions, kept up good intensity throughout the program

Gerke
Dune. But a happy one. Some work to do on carriage, 3r leaning out in air but done, 2a from Ina Bauer, 3t-3t looked around, negative GOE on camel spin, glimmers of hope for Germany's future

I missed the Brit (hope to catch her in the FS), but otherwise, exactly who I would have expected to be the top skaters here.

Some nice polish, and finish on her moves, but obviously lacking some power, and speed. Too bad about the fall on the loop because she was skating a nice program.

Hannah has some long limbs, and is still trying to figure out how to control them in the program. A bit scratchy on the jumps, and a big lean on the loop leading to the fall.

The sound system in the arena didn't handle the music very well, which is unfortunate because it seemed like Alice was trying to hit the musical highlights. Hope it sounded better in the arena. Jumps were tight, but she got through them.

A strong skater with some lovely positions, and performance, but jumps were tight. The landing of the flip was a bit forward, and lacking speed, and as a result the toeloop had a lunge-type landing.

Strange, and unexpected fall out of the camel spin, but Anna covered it well, and almost had me convinced it was choreography. She's bit stiff in her positions, and needs to work on her fluidity, but she was fully committed to the performance.

The Axel was short, and as a result her free skate caught the ice, and was dragged through on the extension causing her to step out. Strong skating overall, and the rest of the elements were clean, and sharp.
