The q on Mao's lutz seems questionable. The under on the loop makes sense.

Love Hana - would have her above Sophia whose skating I cannot get into at all.

Loved seeing Ikura - she is a pure delight.

Inga's program was a little cringey yet fun and a nice stylistic departure for her.

And shout out to Audrey Lee for having a fun sassy program. Loved her at Skate to Milano.

If SP results held through LP, Shimada (15) + (15) = 30 and Shiffrin (11) + (13) = 24 would qualify to JGPF along with Kanazawa (15) + (9) = 24 and the other 3 who have already locked up their spots.

If Bath can move up to silver with Shimada winning gold, then Shiffrin is out of the final and Shimada, Kanazawa, and Yuseong Kim (7) + (15) = 22 would make it.

If Youn can move up to silver with Shimada winning gold, then she (13) + (13) = 26, Shimada, and Kanazawa will make the Final. If Youn moves up to bronze and Shiffrin wins silver, then it will be a total score points tiebreak between the two for the last spot.

And we are live for the 35 junior women and 5 hours+ of competition.

Wow Alayna Coats justified her spot. Good job.
It was a pretty clean skate (though jumps were pretty small and close on the rotation), but no 3-3 and scored significantly less than Chao, Shao, or Bezkorovainaya.

ETA: Nothing personal against Coats and I am happy for her that she skated well in the free skate.

If I ever see a Chicago program where the music cuts make sense, I'll take it as a sign of the Apocalypse. Really nice presentation by Ghezzo, though.

After 4 of 6 groups there is another ice resurfacing.

Samiri

nice spring on her 3r, some interesting dynamic movement, dress makes her look like she has no neck, cool spin positions, short on the 3s, stunning presentation, good JGP debut

@Karen-W you keep track of all the NQS stuff, is she still skating novice nationally?

She's still in that 'colt' phase -- all legs and arms. I hope she is able to handle the next few years of body maturity. The dress was interesting, but the neckline was kind of funky.

Both Rachel Samiri and Penelope Ogorelkoff (Tayside Jr Women this weekend) have skated Novice for the NQS this season.

Baranovska

great height in her 3z-2a combo, jumps becoming messier as program goes on, would like to see more linking footwork, drama end pose

Sinisalo

Let's go! long set up into 3s, 3r-2a-2a on the percussive beat, flip out on 3z, jumps were hot and cold, some interesting choreography and she can develop more interpretation to bring it more to life

Gurgenidze

Strong 3z-3t to start, popped second lutz, pantomiming something low on the ice, good musical engagement and presentation

Hanretty says she’s voidy! Yes!

Kaljuvere

Hand down on opening 3z, 3f-3t held, fall on 3s, nice program composition and good technique though some jump troubles today. Will be a good backup for Petrokina in the future

Youn

3z landing was a bit off and elected not to put in combo, nice camel spin with change of edge, fall on 3z, then fall on 3f-3t, she may be in Zayak territory since second lutz should count as +rep, she has great glide across the ice and soft knees, not what she wanted today
