JGP #2 - Czech Skate, Ostrava CZE - Women's SP & FS

Yes, this is a really lovely dress. She's got all the ingredients that @Frau Muller loves in her Korean junior ladies template.

ETA - I'm guessing she's going to get a time deduction as far behind as she finished the music. And Ted's wondering if she'll get credit for the last element, that's how much behind the music it was.
Watched later. Yes, I loved Jang’s dress but absolutely adored Wada of Japan’s color scheme and floatiness.

Josephine just eeked into top 6! I’m getting tired of US single skaters aiming for 6th and 7th place in JGPs.

And Lengyelova will be in the final group in the free. Pretty good for a skater at her first JGP!

(ETA: And of course Wada leads, which is VERY good for a first JGP!)

I was out and missed the ladies.

LOL. Not quite. She's only 13 and Hagara has only one WJC medal and one JGPF medal to his name. They need to sustain their success for a few more years.

Isn’t their pair team in medal position as well?

ETA: never mind, in 5th. I did watch and like them.

They're in 5th - 4 points out of 3rd right now, but this is jr pairs and this field has a lot of teams that don't have much competitive history so it's difficult to handicap properly. There's 10 points between 2nd and 13th - I'm expecting a LOT of movement in the FS.

Gabriella Grinberg is a Moscow born Plushenko student, and she tried a triple axel, but it wasn't close to rotated. Nothing remotely interesting about anything she did.

Abramkina in a snake dress, copying Kamila's opening arm-loopy choreo. At least it's not actually Bolero!

Oh, this snake dress is a cheap knock-off of Kamila's snake dress. The lack of whickety-whack on this dress is a dead-giveaway.

Early days, but Leilah Patten is the most promising British female skater I think I've ever seen. If she survives puberty (big if) she could be amazing.

Tkyalova's dress is stunning. Baby blue skirt and floral lace bodice & sleeves with gold crystals covering the lace.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this tiny 13 year old skating to The Handmaiden soundtrack has not watched the film. But perhaps she will someday, and be like "....oh!"

Dibbern of Switzerland a delight! Love her dress…floaty, with a blending of pale colors. Similar to Japanese skater Wada’s SP dress.

The South African skater, Jasmine Coetzee, also trains in Moscow it seems. Her bio lists Plushenko as one of her coaches and 17 hours a week training in Moscow. It's too bad that that is where promising young South African skaters are going for training.

Anyone who read last week's JGP Women's SP thread is well aware of how much I hate The Fifth Element soundtrack wailing opera woman and cannot fathom how this crap has become a skating warhorse, but I have to give Angel Delevaque props for surprising me with a costume that doesn't automatically scream "this is a Fifth Element program!"

Also - she's quite a lovely skater! We should keep an eye on her. She's only 14, so we have a few more seasons before she's sr-eligible, but she's got some talent!

I’m awaiting the great international breakthrough performance by Josephine Lee (#2 senior U.S. woman in 2024 Nationals)! Go, Josephine! Rock with Rachmaninov! 🇺🇸

Two black dresses with silver/white crystals & accenting in a row and the last one in the previous group was black with blue crystals. And three entirely different music selections.

All of the dresses have been very pretty, by the way.

Streuli

Touching boards beginning—automatic no in my book. Some (many) jump errors, nice moves in the field sequence, not her day

I'm blown away by how many talented skaters there are from so many countries.
I'm especially pleased that so many of them are training at home. It speaks well for the growth of the sport!

3 of the top 6 train at least part time in Russia. I'm hoping that some of these non-russian training centers can continue to grow, they're giving us such interesting skaters & programs.

Love the way Streuli's skirt flares during jumps & spins. Sorry she had a rough skate, some nice qualities there.

Horcickova

Limber, expressive arms and back, neat 3f and 3t-2t, gained strength as she went, a few jump troubles at beginning, put hand down on ending pose—could count as a fall

Horcickova is not in a black dress, but I do love it. It's mostly a deep grape purple but it ombres on her upper chest area into burgundy; the neckline is a nude illusion as are the upper half of the sleeves, then the forearm is the deep grape and it ombres into the burgundy. The skirt fades from the deep purple to a peach for the last few inches. And the front dress has a diamond/ geometric crystal stoning pattern while the back, which is mostly nude illusion, has some dark stones draping down like long necklace strands. It's really unique and gorgeous.

Jang! What a dress and hair accessory!!!

Costuming must be a big part of every Korean female skater’s family. 💰

Jang's got a blush pink dress with some darker mauve ombre sections covered in lots of silver stones/crystals. And requisite hair bling. She's struggling on some of these jumps though. Korean Women's Cloning Program appears to have glitched with her again and I'm fine with this because she's skating to "Voila" which should be an automatic deduction for bad taste.

ETA - and then she botched the closing spin and may not get it called.
