JGP #2 - Czech Skate, Ostrava CZE - Women's SP & FS

Meeting time again, so I have to turn the sound off, but I can still watch in the background. Jang is very very sparkly. I like the blues in her dress.

Yes, this is a really lovely dress. She's got all the ingredients that @Frau Muller loves in her Korean junior ladies template.

ETA - I'm guessing she's going to get a time deduction as far behind as she finished the music. And Ted's wondering if she'll get credit for the last element, that's how much behind the music it was.

This Romanian girl's costume would be a million times better if she ditched the black tights.

This red and beige dress with spangles, crystals and a red fringe over 3/4 of the beige underskirt is... Interesting. I think I'd like it more if it was red and purple or red and black or red and... Well, maybe not red and green, but you get my point, lol.

ETA - the dress belongs to the 3rd Czech girl - Jana Horcickova.

Clearly the ISU bio for Kaljuvere is not correct - it says her SP music is "The Summer Knows" from the Summer of '42 soundtrack but this is clearly Scheherazade.

ETA - Ted & Mark both acknowledge this as well and demonstrate they do know their skating warhorses after all!

Polina D from Hungary by way of Moscow is skating to Cirque du Soleil and wearing a brown and beige strappy dress - and should get that 3z+3t reviewed because I don't think the 3+ had the full rotation. She's not terrible but, like Wada, the music does the heavy lifting on the choreo - she's not quite completely there with her expression.

Cypriot girl is taking her tights to the next level with sparkles & crystals down one sapphire blue leg to match the dress. But, just one leg! Are they running out of crystals in Moscow?

Oh, this white dress with the light blue, pale yellow, deep blush pink and sage green large, 3-d flowers all over the bodice is interesting. And this next one - electric orange and turquoise with silver stoning - and that description does not do that dress justice in anyway.

It caught my eye as well. I don't think I've ever seen a dress quite like it, on or off the ice!

Electric orange and turquoise dress belongs to Elisabeth Dibbern of Switzerland. And she has matching hair bling! This is what Korean ladies would wear if they weren't averse to a bright color palette.

I'd like Guerra's red dress better without the batwings, but maybe they're her Elton John tribute.

Andorran girl makes herself memorable with red chiffon under-arm wings on her dress.

It makes me wonder, do some of these skaters know the only way they're going to get noticed by FS internet is with utterly batshit costume choices because they don't have the tech content to stand out?

Sigh. No, Mark. Those are not good hobbies for the ISU bio! Those hobbies are so pedestrian and boring. I guess she put all her creative energy into the red chiffon batwings.

Yujae's skating to "Love Story" and not in a grey dress. Instead it's shades of pink. So many shades of pink. And bling. But no hair bling. Good jumps to open. She may take the lead even if she is just a standard-issue Korean junior woman with the romantic orchestral music and sparkly-oh-so-sparkly dress.

Kim

Time for some redemption from jr worlds. Jumps looked okay. Nice spins. More work to do on leg line and skating skills.

Wow, into 4th. I noticed her GOEs weren't that high, but I expected at least 2nd or 3rd.

Dang - not even in a podium position for Yujae!

White dress with 3-d flowers is worn by Alica Lengyelova of Slovakia.

Whoa. Lengyelova can land some jumps! 3f, 2a, and 3a+3t all look fairly clean!

ETA - and she's not a Russian import - born in Kosice!

And I really do like the dress, only I wouldn't have given it a long yellow underskirt. It looks like her slip is showing.

Agreed - the underskirt was distracting - especially because it looked like it was either dyed with one half yellow/one half taupe or there were actually two underskirts.

And Lengyelova knocks Josephine out of the top 6.

USFS really needs to figure it out with the discrepancies in v international domestic tech calls/scoring because it is doing a huge disservice to our women.
