:COP:Ted Flett recently did a video interview with Rafael Arutyunyan for Golden Skate, the first part of the interview on Mao Asada is now complete:

There will be multiple parts of this interview released over the next few days, next will be on Ashley and his thoughts on her at Worlds/her skating future. Hope you all enjoy the interview!

What an emotional story about Mao, and Raf's almost two World Champions. (Does that make him the almost coach? j/k) But I love hearing Raf say "I love Mao with all my heart. We are good friends." And how Mao thanked him for all he did for her.

His name is misspelled at the beginning. ETA: Well, maybe this is a new, more accurate transliteration. But I have always seen it spelled Arutunian.

Goldenskate is really on the move. So they have snapped up half of the Blades Boys. Good move, I really like Ted Flatt. Does that mean the Blades Boys are done as a duo?

I was asked to use the Armenian spelling of his name, which is Arutyunyan.

I was a bit o_O as well about it lol. But it's more authentic! Raf would want nothing less. Part 2 will be ready this evening, thanks for all of the feedback so far!

All feedback (positive and negative) is appreciated and communicated, in order to provide the highest quality entertainment for all future productions. :bloc: :watch: :summer:

Mao. :wuzrobbed She must be an extremely interesting person to know.

A+ editing @Karpenko. Let Ted know that this interview set-up is preferable to the selfie interviews (IE, Mishin and Mirai) he sometimes did, IMO. :40beers:

very sad that she could not tell him the reason she could not come back to California. Is this something common to Japanese culture?

I think I heard or read somewhere that they wanted to keep her Mum's illness quiet due to the overwhelming media attention leading into Worlds and not needing poor Mao to be bombarded with questions and headlines about her Mum. But I am sure Raf would have kept it quiet too. :)

I think it used to be and may still be common in Japan not to reveal your family's sicknesses

This is only 6 minutes long. Definitely edited down to a good, short size
When I'm not at my crazy demanding job I'm with my very cute but demanding baby. I can read and even post when he's nursing. But no way I can listen to anything aloud or wear a headset without him getting distracted. If you have had a baby then you know what I mean!

Amazing. Could you later post the full interview with Rafa (like TSL did with Wilson)? Pretty please? I could listen to him for hours!

As I said on another thread, I was so happy for Rafael (even more than for my beloved Ashley and Adam) that his students skated lights out, especially because both Ashley and Adam have been written off and are not any coach's dream material. Rafa did so well!!!

I have very high hopes for Nathan under Rafa's tutelage. That boy could go places.

Now if Rafa could only convince Patrick Chan to join him...

Fair enough. I wanted to mention this was much shorter than the average TSL interviews which are closer to one hour long, but you're right, some people might not be able to do online audio interviews period. :)
