In Memoriam

This was a death notice from last November. I'm sorry I missed it. It was Virginia McLaurin who at 100 plus danced with the Obama's in the White House. The history she must have witnessed....RIP belatedly:

RIP Julian Sands:
Human remains found in mountains in California have been confirmed to be those of British actor Julian Sands, who went missing on a hike in January.
Walkers found the remains on Saturday, police said, and they have now been formally identified.
Sands, 65, was best known for his roles in the Oscar-winning film A Room With A View and TV dramas 24 and Smallville.
His other credits included 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in which he appeared opposite Daniel Craig.
Sands disappeared on 13 January during bad weather in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Thread created in January after he disappeared:

My favourite Alan Arkin movie was The In-Laws, with Peter Falk. I never laughed so hard. At the time I knew who Peter Falk was but wasn't aware of Arkin. Alan was definitely the star of the movie.
(IMO today's so-called comedic movies could certainly learn something from this gem.)

Mine was in the TV movie, The Defection Of Simas Kudirka, where he portrayed the real life story of a Lithuanian sailor who attempted to defect to America by literally 'jumping ship', from a Soviet vessel to and American one.

The In-Laws and the Russians are Coming... are the two that come immediately to mind. When I asked my husband, he said Wait Until Dark, something I'd forgotten about.

There are certain words that make me smile or laugh because I remember something from a film. And "serpentine" is one of those words because of that film. https://youtu.be/4UPXOsaMbvU

Tax the police dog died in the line of duty after he and another dog named Striker ingested drugs. They tried to save both dogs but unfortunately Taz passed away. R.I.P.

I'm truly sorry that I missed posting about this. Vida Blue passed away on May 6th. He was from my hometown, and the visitation was held at Jenkins Funeral Home in Mansfield on May 31st. The service was held at Mary Evergreen Baptist Church in Grand Cane, Louisiana.

Vida was a MVP left-handed pitcher who won 3 World Series titles with the Oakland A's. He was 73 years old. RIP, Vida Blue. :(

The scene where the two are blindfolded & about to be shot is hysterical. Arkin wandering around & complaining/crying is the funniest. Also serpentine serpentine.

Arkin's reacting facial expressions were more than priceless. I loved those scenes and can easily recall them to this day. The dictator's prized collection of velvet paintings was good too. Another top-favourite scene was when they were on the sketchy plane and the "flight attendants" were demonstrating the safety instructions.
