Has anyone here seen the show? I’m debating going; logistics are complicated, so I’m on the fence
i wasn't able to go last year when gabi first joined bc none of the stops were near us. but i saw a bunch of the stories that gabi/the idi tour were tagged in and the reviews were all glowing. fortunately, there's a stop pretty close to us this year, so we got tickets and are really looking forward to it :)

I went to IDI show in VA today and I was very impressed!
The show was sold out and those who were not able to get a seat were standing.

Ten skaters with strong skating and performance skills and unique personalities skate organically, sometimes in unison and sometimes individually. Their movements are so natural and organic that I feel as though they are in a forest or the ocean. Their movements convey a wide range of emotions, from joy to pain to empathy to acceptance - everything.

It's not synchronized skating or ice theater; it's unique in its own right, and I'd strongly recommend seeing it if you can.

I only took one "full" video - Particles by Oona and Gage Brown

I went to the Dover NH show and loved it!! I highly recommend it. Where to begin... First of all, there are so many great talents in the show. Rohene Ward is in the cast, and he's fantastic ... his style is so reminiscent of Jason Brown IMO (no wonder, since he is Jason's mentor/choreographer). Just so musical, flexible, and fluid. He appears in a jazzy number to "Take Five," which is so musical and perfectly choreographed (by B E N O I T ). The Browns are terrific, too. It's fun seeing them skate with other people in the cast (not just each other), and they also have a great solo piece toward the end, with just the two of them.

One of the highlights for me every year with IDI is seeing the little-known but lovely Kseniya Ponomaryova. I don't remember what Kseniya's skating background is, but her posture and port de bras (arm/hand movements) are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. (I probably say that every year, too! :D) Emmanuel Savary and Angela Wang have joined the cast, and it's great to see them too.

Gabriella Papadakis has a lovely solo piece choreographed by Jeremy Abbott, with some interesting choreography. And the highlight of the whole show, IMO, is her "After the Rain" number, skated with Alissa Czisny and Kseniya Ponomaryova. This is a tango, specially rechoreographed this year, featuring Gabriella in a love triangle of sorts, with Alissa and Kseniya vying for Gabi's attention and to be her dance partner. It's a statement piece, and very interesting to watch. I think Gabriella takes the "male" role in some of the tango choreo--marvelous.

The Dover NH IDI show was scheduled for the same weekend as Ice Chips, with Alysa Liu. I knew I'd have time to go to only one, and chose the IDI show because it's something different, innovative, and beautiful. My family came, and they all loved it too. I was pleasantly surprised at the audience size--it's a small arena, with just bleacher seating, but it was filled up pretty much completely! Anyhow I highly recommend the show. Tickets are also quite affordable!!

I went to the show in VA yesterday and loved it, too. For me, the highlight was Rohene...he can express any type of music and was comfortable solo and group/partnered skating. He even did some 2As and fast, centered spins. I complemented him on his FS skills (and overall beautiful skating) at the meet and greet and he smiled and said he's trying to keep up at age 42. (OK, I feel old hearing that, I remember him competing at Nats  )

Gabby was fabulous too, and I also loved her number with Alissa and Kseniya. It was great to see the Browns in this type of show. Gage even did a lift with Kseniya and she is about the same height as he...he is strong!

As YukiNieve noted, the show was sold out and they also sold a bunch of standing room tix. I hope the show comes back next year.

At the meet and greet, i asked Angela Wang if she would be doing more show skating. She said no more cruise ships, and she is starting grad school in physical therapy in May. It's good to see her doing well.

@Rhumba d’Amour
The ticket price is just a touch more reasonable than attending the Olympics (shame on them for gouging people), so there's that.

I went last year and internally raised my eyebrows when an older couple saw Gabriella Papadakis roll her suitcase by us and the wife said, "I wonder if she's a skater."

It was pretty varied in music and moves performed, and I don't remember it being a giant cheesefest in the least the way some American events can turn out.

Let me put it this way: I don't think it's a must-see, but if logistics aren't that hard, go for it.

I saw the show in "Philly" today. It is quite different from other shows you might have seen. Aside from some duets, it is all ensemble numbers with a focus on an exploration of body movements. Several skaters did the occasional jump or spin, but the highlights (for me, anyway) were the glide. It was not a spectacle, just wonderful, gorgeous skating.
