I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

I say koh-dah-LEE.
Thats the correct pronunciation.

I like the brand. Their lip balm is one of my favorite that you could buy in a store.
I am trying to figure out my favorite products of 2015. Probably Paulas choice cleanser and BHA lotion. And sure - MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NW10 - which is my perfect match. I cannot decide on colours. I really liked bright and intense lipsticks, but also wore Modesty by MAC often and felt so confident.
I am very into body lotions and butters atm. I butter myself up every evening. Especially my poor feet.

I spent part of my New Year's morning in a partial purge/cleaning of my makeup. Old mascara, out. Sponges, out. Stuff I won't use, out. Full soak and cleaning of all of my brushes and pencils. If I get eye irritation in the next month, it won't be from lack of trying.

From the Yahoo list, I've only tried (and liked) Sephora Brand lipsticks. I am pick about lipstick and hate anything that makes my lips feel dry (let's just say the matte trend is not for me :scream:), but I like theirs. They kind of melt/fall apart after a while, though.

I might copy this idea :)

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a shampoo for oily hair? My hair's oily; I feel it's gotten worse - I think I need as shampoo change.

That gold lipstick makes me want to :scream: It is not flattering in any way.

Oleada, when my hair was/is really only, I had some success with shampoo with tea tree oil in it. I'm sure there are dozens of them out there, but the one I've used the most is the Paul Mitchell one.

I would think gold lipstick would only look good on darker skinned women. And probably only for going out to a club or something where you can get away with more over the top styles.

I like the braids, as I sometimes will throw a random one in my hair when I have an uncooperative cowlick. :shuffle:

Last year I was so gaga over Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille and this year I can't stand it. Luckily my cousin is willing to take my 2/3 full bottle of my hands. Right now I am still into my HG Lolita Lempicka and Mon Exclusif by Guerlain. They are quite similar, both cold weather fragrances. But I get compliments left and right for them.

Excuse me? I would have happily taken that bottle but no, you had to go all nepotism.

I only grabbed 3 bottles of perfume from my swamped apartment and miss the rest of them. Must ask Servpro lady if I can get them back or if they are covered for replacement.

Sorry about your fire and the material losses, PRLady. I hope the perfumes are covered by insurance. In any case, the important thing is that Oscar is safe.

I am really doing myself a disservice. My cousin and I hang out quite a bit, so the Tom Ford will be in my face on a regular basis. :wall: Maybe I won't mind it on her.

So - are there any GlamourPussycats coming to Bratislava? So I can make giftbags :D

I wish I could go Kosjenka. I would so love to see you :)

You should post some great pics and you'll have to give commentary on the makeup you see on the skaters at Euros.

Fashion question:
I want a hat. As in a stylish hat, not an ugly knit toque. I like the 20's style cloches, but not sure how they would look on me. How do you factor in your face shape and hairstyle when it comes to hats??
As you can see, I have a very full face. Would a hat just make my head look ginormous? Where do I start?

quartz, is there a store nearby where you could try various styles, and see what looks best on you?
Then, you could look in the vintage stores you love for options.

You might be surprised by what you find.

There are no hat shops around here that I am aware of. The thrift stores tend to have tons of ball caps, but not any fancy hats.

I just found a costume maker in London that makes hats. The ones pictured on the website tend to be more steampunk though. Not sure I want a hat badly enough to have one made. ($$$$!)
I am more wondering right now what style would look right on me.

I tried a fedora at a men's shop and it turned out that a small brim fedora works for me. I bought mine without a band and made it feminine by adding a colorful scarf.

Nice to see Korean skincare products featured in that Yahoo list. Would be nice to see more Taiwanese and Japanese brands make their way into the US and into Sephora. So much more beyond Etude House and TonyMoly to be explored! :)

Here's my Sephora-related question:

Has anyone redeemed a sample that they regret wasting points on?

That's a full face??? Mine is huge then :p
Well, yes. I have giant puffy cheeks and a manly jawline. I am trying to be kind to myself and not say "fat". :D There is nothing dainty or delicate about it, which is why I am not sure what sort of hat style would suit me best.

@Aceon6, I was wondering about a fedora too.

I seem to recall department stores sometimes have a hat selection? Like Macy's and Nordstrom? Or maybe it is just in Denmark?

Yes!

At least the what type of hat goes with what shape of face part; the prices are a wee too rich for my wallet.

Thank you!

I'm in Hicksville, there isn't a Macy's or Nordstrom's to be seen!

I swear I saw hats in an old local department store in London when I was there. I can't remember the name for the life of me but it had a really old elevator with a sweet old lady operating it.

That would be Kingsmills, which closed in 2014. It had been a family owned and operated business since the 1860's.
