I just got back from a roadtrip in my own state. This was somewhat unplanned.
I stopped in Sedona, which I have visited a dozen times. Then I drove to page for a one night stopover and from there I went to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The N. rim is stunning, but i had no idea that they have no internet and no cell phone service. Also because of the wild fires the roads to most scenic points were closed, except Point Imperial. Got some great views from the lodge. Just being there made up for the lack of anything.
I returned to Page for 3 nights and took a couple of boat tours on Lake Powell. I was awestruck by the Antelope Canyons, which I had not seen before. I took an aeroplane tour to see the Horseshoe bend (thats how they advertised it) but they never showed us the bend. I was very disappointed. Will do the helicopter tour next time. I am not a big hiker and I heard the hike was pretty challenging. I tried to take a tour of the bend with a local company but they dont accept single tourists (require minimum 2 to make tour reservations). I am going to file a complaint with their chamber of commerce.
Stopped in Sedona again on my way back home. Drove over 1000 miles in 10 days. It was tiring but enjoyable. I was so happy to finally see the Antelope canyons and spend a couple of nights at the North Rim!
