How to compare US vs Canadians Novice pairs?

This will probably a short lived post.
Both notation systems, US-Canada are different in novice pairs. Anybody know them enough to explain how to make comparison?

I mean, elements are the same number, 7 in the SP and 11 in the free (unlike in pre-novice/intermediate) and same value (I think) but program components are getting much higher value in the US.

For instance, the US Novice pairs champions of last year, Coleman Griffin in the free got 42,85 for the elements and 46.01 for the program components, total of 88,86.

The Canadian Novice pairs champs last year, Panetta Lapointe got 38,88 in the elements and 31,63 for the components. Total of 70, 51.

My guess, is Coleman/Griffin were better, just watching at the element scores. But if I want to easily compare, could I assume Panetta/Lapointe would have around 10 points more in the program components if they were judged by US standards. And the same in the short program?

I know it won't be exact. Skater with great components or weak components may not share the same 10 points addition, maybe more a % then?

I'm not looking to be able to say US or Canadians are better. (We all know Canadians are greater!!) :40beers:

But since there are our future Junior, then Senior skaters, I would like to guess who we will see in future International competitions... if they stick together long enough.
