I'm not sure if skatingscores.com uses the ISU WS or they make updates based on retirement or split announcements. To be removed from the WS list, there has to be some official communication or action -- and if I understand correctly, it has to come from the Feds, not from the skaters or coaches, etc. -- to remove them from the WS list before they fall off in a few years of not earning any points. It gives them the opportunity to "unretire" or "reunite" or sit out to switch Federations while not having to start from scratch as an unseeded skater, but it occasionally drops teams from the Top 24 and a guaranteed invite to a GP.

So Knierim Frazier announced their retirement in 2022 but I wonder if it was "official" because skatingscores still has their WS points listed for 2023 World Championships for example.
Same for Piegad/Strekalin who announced their split on Instagram this past September- they still have WS points listed from their GPs.
Whereas the pairs that have split and already moved on, like Efimova/Bloomaert, have no WS points listed.

It would be hard for the ISU to ignore a split if the same or other Feds entered the partners into a competition :). I'm guessing that would be in lieu of an official retirement filing with the ISU on behalf of the team.

Knierim/Frazer are still on the ISU World Standings list -- they are ranked 20th at the moment, even with the 70% factoring from the 2022-23 season, the last season they had points -- so it makes sense that skatingscores would also retain them. They'll fall off the list at the end of this season.

Well, KniFraz never made an announcement about retiring - they just didn't compete nor were entered in the GP for the 23-24 season after they competed last at 2023 World Team Trophy. The speculation at the time was that perhaps they didn't announce anything because it enabled both of them to continue to purchase discounted health insurance through the USOPC.

Also, the ISU doesn't usually scrub the WS of teams that split or retire mid-season until the end of the season.

I had asked this question several times over the past couple seasons because they’re also still on the world standings at ISU

The ISU doesn't take Instagram posts or interviews as official retirements, so they're on the list either because USFS hasn't given them the news, which is highly likely, or because it's sitting on someone's desk, which I doubt.

Looks like Delcamp/Akalin TUR earned the Worlds CTES mins today at Ephesus Cup! Both Pallu-Neves/Panesar and Nauryzova/Datiev came up short again.

Sznajder/Novak CZE join Blaasova/Blaas and Zakova/Mencl in having the Jr Worlds CTES mins, which gives Czechia another alternate.

None of the Senior women earned any CTES mins at Ephesus Cup; same with Senior Pairs at Bavarian Open today.

Pazienza/Knorr SUI now have the Jr Worlds CTES mins.

We'll see what happens tomorrow, but right now, there are 4 other Jr Pairs teams in a good position after the SP to get the Jr Worlds CTES mins - Vouillamoz/Bouvart SUI, Heckova/Valky SVK, Yudin/Rossi Lopez ESP, and Wilberforce/Berei HUN. And Stefanie Pesendorfer AUT & Yelizaveta Babenko UKR may get the Worlds CTES mins - can't see any of the rest getting them tomorrow.

All four of the pairs teams achieved the Jr Worlds CTES mins!

And neither of the women achieved the Worlds CTES mins. None of the men needing CTES mins seem on track for getting them after the SP today.

Big success for V/B in their first season! They’re going to Euros and both Worlds. 😁

Well, skaters/teams are on the final stretch of chasing CTES mins for this season! This past weekend, Turkey's Delcamp/Akalin earned the Worlds CTES mins in ice dance; Armenia & Spain had women achieve the Jr Worlds CTES mins; and Spain, Hungary, Switzerland & Slovakia had pairs teams achieve Jr Worlds CTES mins - the Jr Worlds fields are now set at their maximum number of entries below.

Looking over the CTES lists for each discipline, here's a rough estimate of the # of entries we'd see if Worlds was held in 28 days.
Men (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 39
1 entry - ARM (2), AUT (1), AZE (1), BUL (1), CAN (4), CHN (4), CZE (2), ESP (1), EST (3), GBR (1), GEO (1), GER (2), HUN (1), ISR (2), KAZ (1), MEX (1), MON (1), POL (1), PRK (1), SVK (1), SWE (2), TPE (1), TUR (1), UKR (2)
2 entries earned, only 1 qualified - SUI (1)
2 entries - FRA (6), ITA (5), KOR (6), LAT (2)
3 entries - JPN (9), USA (13)

Women (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 32
1 entry - AUT (1), AZE (1), BUL (1), CAN (5), CHN (1), EST (1), FIN (3), FRA (2), GBR (1), GEO (1), ISR (2), ITA (4), KAZ (1), LAT (1), LTU (1), NOR (1), POL (1), ROU (1), SVK (2), TPE (1-currently not competing), UKR (1)
2 entries earned, only 1 qualified - BEL (1+1 injured for season)
2 entries - SUI (2)
3 entries - JPN (10), KOR (8+1 suspended), USA (9+1 now competing pairs)

Pairs (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 23
1 entry - AUT (2), CHN (1 split), FIN (1), FRA (1), GBR (1), NED (1), POL (1), SUI (1), UKR (1), UZB (1)
2 entries earned, only 1 qualified - AUS (1), GEO (1), HUN (1)
2 entries - ITA (3), USA (6)
3 entries earned, only 2 qualified - GER (2), JPN (2)
3 entries - CAN (4)

Ice Dance (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 35
1 entry - AUS (1), AZE (2), CHN (1 status unknown), ESP (2), GEO (1), GER (2), HUN (1), IRL (1), ISR (2+1 split), JPN (1), KOR (1), NED (1), POL (1+1 split), SUI (1), SVK (2), SWE (1), TUR (1), UKR (2)
2 entries - CZE (2), FIN (2), FRA (5), GBR (2), ITA (4), LTU (2)
3 entries - CAN (5+1 suspended), USA (11+1 suspended)

Looking over the CTES lists for each discipline, here's a rough estimate of the # of entries we'd see if Jr Worlds was held in 28 days (with the caveat that some of these #s represent skaters/teams who are competing senior only this fall but are still age-eligible for JWC).
Men (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 44 - 8 warm up groups
1 entry - ARM (2), AUT (2), BEL (1), BUL (1), CHN (5), CZE (2), ESP (1), FIN (2), GEO (1), GER (4), HKG (2), HUN (2), ISR (3), ITA (3), KAZ (3), LAT (2), LTU (1), NZL (1), POL (3), SLO (1), SUI (8), SWE (4), THA (1), TPE (1), TUR (4), UKR (4)
2 entries - CAN (10), EST (3), FRA (3), GBR (6), SVK (2), USA (12)
3 entries - JPN (8), KOR (5)

Women (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 49 - 9 warm up groups
1 entry - ARM (1), AUS (2), AUT (2), AZE (2), BUL (2), CHN (8), CRO (1), CYP (3), CZE (5), ESP (1), GBR (1), GEO (1), GER (5), HKG (3), HUN (3), ISR (4), KAZ (4), KGZ (1), LAT (4), LTU (3), NED (2), NOR (1), NZL (2), POL (4), SLO (2), SVK (5), SWE (3), THA (1), TPE (2), UKR (4)
2 entries - CAN (10), EST (6), FIN (7), FRA (3), ITA (12+1 now competing pairs), KOR (15), SUI (8), USA (18)
3 entries - JPN (9)

Pairs (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 22 - 6 warm up groups
1 entry - CHN (2+1 split), ESP (1), GBR (1), GER (2), HUN (1), ISR (1), JPN (1) SUI (2), SVK (1+1 split)
2 entries earned, only 1 qualified - CZE (1), UKR (1+1 split)
2 entries - FRA (2), ITA (2)
3 entries, only 1 qualified - GEO (1)
3 entries - CAN (5), USA (6)

Ice Dance (# of athletes with CTES min already) - 28 - 6 warm up groups
1 entry - ARM (1), AUT (1), BEL (1), CHN (5), CYP (1), CZE (3), ESP (2), EST (1), GBR (2+1 split), JPN (2), POL (2), SUI (2), SVK (1), SWE (1), TUR (1), UKR (4)

Of the pairs that realistically could still get mins and go to Worlds, is it pretty much RosSchu, GamKor, and the Crafoords?

Hard to say. Crafoords - no, unless they're entered in the Road to 26 Trophy - they aren't entered at either Merano or Challenge this week. ETA - they are entered in the Road to 26 test event, so they have one more shot.

Valesi/Bidar are making their debut, so we have no baseline; McIntosh/Zandron were injured when they pushed forward with competing in the fall; Faula/Belle are within 4 pts, RoSchu are within 2 pts; GamKor are a bit further back & need about 7.

Here are the Pairs teams still seeking CTES mins & where they're competing this week -

AWG - Pairs SP Tue Feb 11, Pairs FS Wed Feb 12
Wang/Zhu CHN 74.40
Shimizu/Honda JPN no Sr CTES (jr 75.15)
Gamez/Korovin PHI 81.10
Ryom/Han PRK 75.17

Merano Trophy - Pairs SP Thu Feb 13, Pairs FS Fri Feb 14
Valesi/Bidar CZE no CTES
McIntosh/Zandron ESP 69.57
Alteryd/Pierre FRA 58.07
Faula/Belle FRA 84.82
Gunnarsdottir/Piazza ISL 76.46
Caldara/Maglio ITA 80.30
Mauder/Wilkinson RSA 73.43

Challenge Cup - Pairs SP Sat Feb 15, Pairs FS Sun Feb 16
Roscher/Schuster GER 86.27
Gamez/Korovin PHI 81.10 (are they really planning on flying from Harbin to Amsterdam on Thursday to compete in Challenge Cup?)

And, quickly reviewing the Ice Dance teams trying for their CTES mins this week -
AWG - Dance RD Tue Feb 11, Dance FD Wed Feb 12
Ren/Xing CHN 90.92
Xiao/He CHN 89.39
Putri/Ramadhan INA 51.23
Tanaka/Nishiyama JPN 90.06

Faula/Belle are within 4 pts
But even if they got their mins, they wouldn't get the one World spot over the Kovalevs would they? Same with Caldara/Maglio I suppose. They could only be substitutes.
Great to see the Crafoords at Road to 26. They're just a few points off from qualifying for Worlds.

Gamez/Korovin PHI 81.10 (are they really planning on flying from Harbin to Amsterdam on Thursday to compete in Challenge Cup?)
...then they're supposed to fly again to Korea for 4CC...three competitions in two weeks? I guess wait and see...and hope they figured out their SBS jumps...

Right, it wouldn't impact the # of entries, just gives France another option/substitute.

Yes, they're less than 3 points from the CTES.

So, today was an eventful day for both China & North Korea at the Asian Winter Games!

Ren/Xing got the dance CTES mins for Worlds and Ryom/Han got the pairs CTES mins for Worlds!
Do you think Ryom/Han would go to Boston, though?
My favs GamKor are still short. 😭 They need a miracle next week at 4CC.

Well, that's anyone's guess. Any other year, not a chance, but this is the pre-Olympic year, so the DPRK may very well let them go to Boston - anything to increase their chances of actually qualifying for Milano-Cortina.

Yes, it's going to be a big leap for them to get it. They have the potential, just need to put it all together.

If Trump extended an invite to his BFF, then Ryom/Han might be there. If not, they could always wait to go to Beijing in the Fall. They don't have to be in Boston to clinch a spot.
