Harry and Meghan wedding chat- the build up!

Apparently they did discuss it with her Mom but the prospect of doing that in front of billions scared her. They felt that it would be good for Prince Charles because he could also be a calming influence.

Awww, I just read the sweetest news ever. Yesterday, Meghan's beagle Guy was spotted riding with the Queen in the back seat of her car, heading toward Windsor Castle. Apparently, the Queen will be looking after Guy for Meghan! That's so heartwarming.

I've enjoyed seeing all of the pics of Guy and Bogart that Meghan often posted on her former Instagram. I'd been hoping to see new pictures of Guy with Meghan and Harry. But this sweet glimpse of Guy riding with the Queen is a real unexpected treat. :saint: It's more confirmation that Meghan is fully and very warmly accepted and embraced by the royals, no matter the unfortunate Markle family drama.

Sweet Guy is looking quite comfortable and dare I say, regal! :respec: :dog: Go Meghan, Guy, Harry, HM QEII, British royal family!

Ingredients: https://twitter.com/KensingtonRoyal/status/997372838960132097
? 200 Amalfi lemons
? 500 organic eggs from Suffolk
? 20kgs of butter
? 20kgs of flour
? 20kgs of sugar
? 10 bottles of Sandringham Elderflower Cordial

Website for official updates: https://www.royal.uk/royal-wedding-prince-harry-and-ms-meghan-markle-online

That’s an easy enough recipe! I think while it’s been raining for the last week, and won’t stop til at least Monday, I will try to make a regular sized version! :D

Although I don’t know where to find Amalfi lemons in the DC area. Would Meyer lemons work?

I do have elderberry syrup (not cordial), though! It is DIVINE! :swoon:

But no vanilla extract for a cake?!

The cake modeled after that building looks so tasty. Won't be watching the whole thing (too long and boring for me)but will look at clips afterwards.

Today video with three of Meghan's Suits friends/family (Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty). Suits is a fun show to watch because of the great cast, writing and especially because of the genuine camaraderie among all the cast members. Torres, Hoffman, and Rafferty provide some insight (discreetly) into Meghan's lovely personality and their reaction to finding out she was dating Prince Harry:

Meghan has been especially close to these three cast members, especially Hoffman. Also, Meghan had previously worked on several tv pilots with Patrick J. Adams (who played Rachel's love interest, Mike Ross, on Suits)

@misskarne here she is :) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5745373/Prince-Harry-superfan-insists-not-late-marry-me.html I love this -
'Miss McRae has met the Prince before, and even rowed a kayak into Sydney Harbour in 2013 in a bid to meet him, but was stopped by police. In 2015, she dressed in a sequined Australian flag mini dress and tiara as she asked him to marry her outside the Sydney Opera House. When he politely said he would have to get back to her, she asked for a kiss instead.'

Interesting take from Tina Brown on CBS This Morning (Prince Charles walking Meghan; inclusion of Diana in the wedding, etc):

Kensington Palace has provided a free download of the full order of service for the wedding. :)

https://www.royal.uk/order-service-prince-harry-and-ms-meghan-markles-wedding

Some of the music:
Marche Heroique by Sir Alfred Herbert Brewer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w84OOoq9bas

Prelude & Fugue in G Major BWV 541 Bach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr32sEVNaZg
...
Salut d'Amour by Sir Edward Elgar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecM7_3rs5gU
...
Fantasia on Greensleeves by Ralph Vaughn Williams
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ak85S5KZoKE

Apparently the order of service was printed prior to Mr. Markle pulling out, so he's named in the downloaded version. Hopefully changed on the printed copies? :drama:

Meghan will enter the church and walk part of the way on her own with her bridesmaids and pageboys following her. Prince Charles will join her at the 'Quire' choir section where the family are seated:
https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/18/europe/royal-wedding-update-intl/index.html
"It was always the intention that Meghan would walk the first part on her own," and initially be joined by her father (and now Prince Charles) at the Quire section. "Prince Charles will not give Meghan away to Prince Harry in the traditional sense; instead Charles will stand back as Meghan approaches Harry... Meghan came up with the plan herself."

That seems very perfect! A diagram of St. George's Chapel is included in the CNN article.

For a sense of what it will be like tomorrow, here's video of Prince Edward's wedding to Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXlPqeR-kcQ BBC
It was rather windy that day and Sophie's veil was battling the wind at the entrance to St. George's Chapel. I hope the breeze is calmer for Meghan. The sight lines are constricted, so the guests sitting at the entrance section of the church will likely have monitors to view the full ceremony.

Oy. the UK can keep that fruit loop.

What time is the royal wedding local time? I will be at LHR waiting for my connecting flight, but I will probably muss the wedding on TV, unless I catch it on the plane.

Networks in the U.S. begin coverage 4:00am/ 4:30am Eastern time, when the guests begin to arrive. The order of service linked above provides British time. I believe the U.S. eastern coast is five or is it six hours ahead? The Queen is scheduled to arrive at 11:52am and Meghan at 12 noon British time (I believe that's 7am Eastern time, if five hours ahead is accurate).

Posted by Kensington Palace's twitter account: The Official Order of Service

If you want, you can download it in PDF form from this site: Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle's Order of Service

The document was not updated. It still states that 'the bride will be joined by her father, Mr. Thomas Markle' during her procession down the aisle:

The Bride, having been greeted by the Dean of Windsor, moves in procession through the Nave where she is joined by her Father, Mr Thomas Markle, to the High Altar. The Bridegroom and his Best Man await.

So sad. Guess it's too late for them to update it and print out new ones for the guests. :(

The couple will wed at noon at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, before travelling through the town in a carriage at about 13:00 BST.

In her vows, Ms Markle will not promise to "obey" her husband and Prince Harry has chosen to have a wedding ring.

Which is 5AM here in the Pacific. I will actually be up. But I won't be watching as I have a prior engagement. :drama:

Royal Editor, Robert Johnson tweeted this explanation (which makes sense considering Mr. Markle's back and forth on the matter): https://twitter.com/theroyaleditor/status/997626824912982017

“The Order of Service was produced before it became clear that Mr. Thomas Markle would be unable to attend the wedding on medical advice,” the palace said.

I rewatched the late Diana, Princess of Wale's wedding to Prince Charles and I noticed her late father the Earl Spencer stood next to her the whole time with her hand linked to his arm for a bit. Is it usual in the Anglican service for the father to stand there the whole time, next to the bride? In both Catholic and Protestant services I've been to, growing up in the States, the father always gives the bride's hand to the groom, or presents her to the groom in some way, after he is asked by the officiant 'Who gives this woman' he usually says "I do" or "Her Mother and I do" and then he goes and sits down.

Are we going to have a new "play-by-play" thread for the wedding day? It's early morning there already... See y'all in ? hours! :D

^^ Yep, thanks @Sasha'sSpins, I already posted the order of service, added to my post #493 above, with links to some of the musical selections. :)

Apparently, from what's listed in the order of service, Meghan and Harry will use only the names they are known by (Meghan and Harry) in reciting their vows. Another welcome departure from tradition. :rollin:

Harry's aunt (Diana's older sister), Lady Jane Fellowes, will be reading a selection from Song of Solomon. There are lots of very nice touches to this royal wedding ceremony: tradition combined with an up-to-date twist. I can't wait to see Meghan's dress, tiara, and how she will style her hair. :)

Love the fact that 'Stand by Me' is going to be sung during the ceremony and two of my favourite hymns - 'Lord of all Hopefulness' and 'Guide me Oh Thou Great Redeemer' - a nod to the Welsh there!!

The only concern I have is how the procession of the Bride with the pages and bridesmaids will go - could be beautiful or a holy mess :D Still it is unique for a royal wedding so good for them to be different.

So now waiting for the titles and then the wedding dress - so many rumours swirling around as to who is the designer with Stella McCartney being the latest favourite!!
