It breaks my heart that Simone thought the world hated her after Tokyo. I was never mad at her (who the heck would ever be mad at her?!) but my heart hurt SO much for her after what happened over there and I cried when she got that bronze on the beam there because I could tell how much it meant to her.

I was b*tchslapping people right and left on social media 4 years ago after Tokyo. There was a LOT of criticism aimed at her - the greatest QUITTER of all time, she let her team down, she should have kept going (I'd bring up Mukhina for an example of what happens when an athlete "keeps going" when they obviously aren't on the best state of mund or body). I'm on a message board that tends to lean to the right, and I would say, wow, so y'all ARE fans of Communism because keep going in spite of not being at your physical or mental best is a Hallmark of Eastern Bloc athletic training.

Yes, that is a very significant fact! She was also the champion on balance beam at that event and was the AA bronze medalist at that year’s Nationals.

Could be true, but she did look sad at the end of the competition as if she knew she didn't make it. I wouldn't be surprised if she tried for 2028 though.
