Gymnastics #24 - The Road to Paris

Nedoroscik was solid but it sounds like the difficulty was watered down so much that he's not putting himself in a good position to make the team.

IMO, this team does NOT need one specialist for one event. They just need THREE GUYS to freaking HIT their routines to stay in the mix for the team final. Every other team is going to be doing the same thing as the USA....they just need to have gymnasts who can hit their PH routines so its not like the one guy is going to make that much of a difference overall. Again, just my opinion though so.... shrugs

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't some of the other top teams have issues on events at Worlds last year (didn't a Japanese guy fall off PH or was that China)? I don't even think the US went clean on the PH themselves in the team final but it's the overall competition with six events that counts for medals so while having three disasters on one event can definitely affect you, if you can just find three solid routines for every single event, any team will put themselves right in the mix in a team final.

Six men to a team, right? With six apparatuses, if you are a “specialist”, you really need to be one on at least 2-3 events, IMHO.

No, only five men on a team so the specialist role really doesn't make sense here. Ladies can handle maybe having a specialist or two to cover two events (ex. Jade Carey and Suni Lee) because they only have four events but with five men covering six events, that just makes it harder IMO.

Thanks for the correction. A five member team makes being a specialist even more impractical.

I think some nerves are creeping in for some of these guys because they know what's at stake. Hopefully they shake out the nerves tonight and get back on track for Saturday.

Saturday night I'm going to be at a game night with some friends (gonna miss chatting with you all!) but I guarantee we're gonna be watching the Trials coverage because I'm not gonna be able to just follow along with the men's competition via Xwitter....I'm gonna need to see what happens for myself, LOL

C'mon, NBC - you're running this competition awfully close to the start of the debate. Let's get this last rotation done!
