Gymnastics #24 - The Road to Paris

Nedoroscik needs to be on the team. I know that Khoi Young 'delivered' today, but everyone is just so rough on that event otherwise. Adding Stephen at this point is probably adding a full point to the event versus any of the other guys in the running for the Olympics.

FWIW, I love Yul's gymnastics but the pommel was even ugly and getting super kicky towards the end, and Khoi was basically brushing the horse with every rotation.

I think this team is going to come down to the five that has the best all-around + the best pommel horse scores.

Richard, Young & Muldour all can hit great routines - if they manage to hit 3 out of 4, I can't see them taking Nedoroscik.

Speaking of specialists, it looks like Curran Phillips scratched the rest of the event? Hope they provide an update.

Fred is doing SO much better tonight than he did on night one! :cheer:

I have such a soft spot for Shane but he's not been very solid overall since Tokyo so he's gonna really have to knock it out of the park somewhere in order to avoid that dreaded 'alternate' status.

Apparently he has some sort of minor injury that he didn't want to make worse by competing today (saw it on Xwitter but I can't remember what the injury is) so he withdrew earlier today.

With the team looking more like Malone, Richard, Young, Moldauer and a rings specialist, the US will have to count what will be at best a mediocre HB score. It’s a shame nobody was able to really kill that event as a specialty.

What is a good HB score? Terry was just saying that it's one of Brody's best events. Is he competitive with the top men in the world on it?

There are a few guys from OK competing this weekend but their team isn't as strong as it's been in the past so those guys aren't really a factor in any of the results up to this point.
Fuzzy Benas is current 10th AA, he's the top guy from OK. I think the other top athlete from Oklahoma decided to compete for another nation (sorry, I'm blanking on the name/country).

I think the issue is that lots of our top guys really struggle w/ HB. Yul & Asher both have had a historic weakness there, and it's also not a great event for Khoi. Juda & Wiskas both are good on HB, but that would mean leaving Donnell at home.

i normally don't talk about how the commentators mispronounce names unless it's funny, but something about the way Tim pronounces Daiki really grinds my gears lol

Brody, Frederick, and Paul Juda are more than capable of putting up great HB scores and they can fill a lot of other holes on the team too.

Right now, my heart is putting together the team more than the actual scores are so I'm going to refrain from any predictions until at least after tonight's competition is done, LOL
