I like Sam a lot, but Yul is a local boy, so I will be pulling for him, too! I'd be happy if either one came in first, as long as the other comes in second.

I think Sam will win if both hit all their routines since he has more difficulty; higher total D score. However he is prone to mistakes which Yul rarely makes so who knows.

THE QUEEN!!! Did you all see that double-double she just threw off the beam???! I know she didn't have her best night tonight but I am still insanely impressed with Simone pushing herself and improving even though she really doesn't have to in order to keep winning. You go girl.

Am I the only person that really dislikes MyKayla Skinner's gymnastics? I mean, she can throw the big tricks, but she looks like she is gutting out every one of them. I'd rather see a lesser skill done beautifully than a higher-scored trick that looks like the gymnast is working to do it.

Yikes, so many nerves for some of the girls tonight but I can't help wondering if its exhaustion more than anything else. Most of the mistakes seem to be happening to the girls who just got back from the Pan Am Games. I hope night two goes a little better for everyone. Get some rest ladies!

I really wish we could have seen at least one routine from Trinity Thomas! Jade Carey seems like the sweetest girl. I am routing for Skinner! She has work to do still, but boy she has come so far in such a short time! Not great for so many of the ladies, but I think Sunday will be cleaner. We didn’t get to see it, but I am disappointed Eaker messed up her beam again.

I admire her determination but her gymnastics is an eyesore.

Eyesore is a bit much, but I think team Skinner was right in focusing on D score and they have time to clean things up. UB needs the most work.

Skinners form had improved in NCAA, but as soon as she started adding back the difficulty, it went all sloppy again.at least she’s aware of it this time around.

Although I think UB is least important for her as she would never make the team for bars anyway. Isnt she going for one of the non team specialist spots for Tokyo as well?

That will be tough. For a specialist spot, she’d have to pick events where Jade isn’t competing to maximize her chances. I believe Jade plans on two more Cups to pretty much lock her nomination.

Aww good point. Under the system she has almost no shot of beating out Jade. So I guess she has to try and make the 4 person team. No way she gets a "specialist" spot for bars or beam.

But is that even realistic? Terry asked Nastia if she had a chance of making the team and she thought that Skinner had a good shot. Somehow I just don't believe it. Am I being too hard on her? For the life of me, I just can't see it.

I would have loved to see some of Trinity’s routines too. I bet NBC focused on Skinner b/c she’s trying for Tokyo.

I found some on YouTube (floor and something else). Trinity did a pass including something akin to the Biles.

Honestly I dont think so. With Jade having the non team specialist spot for vault/floor all but locked up, I honestly dont see how on earth Skinner makes it. You never know, and I give her credit for trying.

Nastia is always a fake nice nice when commentating so I am not surprised she said good shot which is likely BS as usual.

Senior men’s final just started. It’s not a good sign that Mikulak is already in first by more than a double Simone margin after the prelims.

Anyone else wondering if the men’s Olympic team should just be Mikulak, Moldauer, and just who else can best qualify and medal in apparatus finals? Cause in case something really weird happens, no way is a team medal happening anyway.

Modi’s form on FX looked a bit weird to me. It’s like he’s crooked in the air when he twists.

Good lord, Whittenburg. He’s probably not making the 2020 team, either.

Ugh, Mikulak. That HB routine would have been AWESOME if he had been a bit cleaner.
