Any news on Ksenia Stolbova and her new partner? Pairs just doesn't feel the same this season.

The last I heard, she is still training with Andrei Novoselov, they’re being coached by Nikolai Morozov (eek), and they’re waiting for Novoselov to get released from France. The release is going to be the hard part.

Btw, if you ever want to chat about updates on Ksenia’s epic four-year revenge, you can always message me :)

I would say 'going to be the hard part' is the understatement of the year, given my personal experience of getting a skater released from France!! :scream:

Do you feel the petition about Tiffany and John helped with the release or did it make things harder?

I know...guess we’re gonna have to storm the Bastille, yelling the chorus of “Do You Hear the People Sing”! How hard it is to start a war with France? Asking for a friend.
You were too slow. Someone already got there before you. You may have to find another target. Perhaps the French skating federation office? Even though it seems like more modest target, the outcome may be more successful than storming the few stones that are left from the old Bastille.

Nice plan except for the storming of the Bastille since that one has not been intact for the last 150+ years IIRC.

Haha I was kidding. I just read about the storming of the Bastille a few days ago and when I read about a bunch of people storming a prison in France, I thought of poor Novoselov. I do know it’s been torn down, LOL.

The Bastille I’m talking about was a prison in France years ago. It’s in ruins now.

GREAT IDEA! I expect you all outside the fed office with torches and pitchforks ASAP! Our crusade starts now!

Article by Anatoly Samokhvalov: https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20181104/1145408026.html
[Google translation]

Excerpt:
“At the (near) stage of the Cup of Russia in Kazan, she [Anna Pogorilaya] will not perform. Perhaps at the fifth stage she will be able (November 20 - 24 in Moscow) or at further international competitions. And she won’t be able to start the Russian Championship because she is not in the national team now, due to the fact that last season, one might say, I missed it. So she doesn’t have any privileges, and she should have been selected for the national championship on a common basis, ”said [Viktoria Volchova] Butsayeva by phone.

“In my opinion, if she (Pogorilaya) returns, then she needs to return with dignity,” the trainer stressed. “She herself should understand whether she has enough strength to return. And I need to understand this too. The current season for her should be transitional.”

The specialist said that the short and random programs of Pogorilaya are ready.

... missed the "ruins" last time.. :D

Anna left Tsareva? Whoaaaaaaaa!
It is a mutual decision, both parties talked and agreed that both women need a change. it's with Tsareva's blessing.

When Panenkova was asked why Tsareva is not with her at the last two GP events, Daria said that Tsareva now has a group of Novice and Jr. skaters and plans to devote her time to raising this new crop, supposedly taking a break from coaching Sr. skaters.

I have to say, I am gonna miss her on K&C. :(
I totally get it though and it's a smart decision, I think. It may pay off later big time.
I wish her good luck.

So it does not sound like a gossip without proof, here is the latest comments from Daria where she briefly mentiones Tsareva "staying with the juniors"... (I don't have the other longer one handy).
https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20181102/1145303692.html

Panenkova to journalists: Anna Vladimirovna (Tsareva) is staying with the little (young) skaters, and i came here (to GP) with my choreographer. She is a great support to me, instructs me properly and prepares for the competition. Anna Vladimirovna (Tsareva) coaches me in writing (virtually) and gives some advice. But she must stay and train the young less experienced ones.

"Анна Владимировна осталась тренировать маленьких спортсменов, а я приехала сюда с моим хореографом. Она меня хорошо поддерживает, правильно воспитывает и готовит к соревнованиям. Анна Владимировна со мной списывается, говорит какие-то наставления. Но ей надо тренировать менее опытных спортсменов",

Now can Polishuk and Vakhnov please get back together? :saint:
There must have been a reason why they decided to split up. The reason wouldn’t just go away only because Vakhnov is suddenly without a partner.

What about pairing up with Davis? She has improved quite a lot, considering she has been doing ice dance only two years.
