As excited as i was to watch ,I’m now a bit disappointed. I was wondering why people were so committed to hating the Latin rythym and now i see. The music selections were uninspiring in the dance event for sure. I will say that Step/Bukin look promising. On one hand, i always wonder what a different coaching team would do. Then when i see those Twizzles out of nowhere, i realize what we would sacrifice. THey look like they trained the summer knowing the Olympics was on the line which is really neat to see.


The silver lining? Tuk looks the best she has in years. Evgenia just keeps rolling along and looks fabulous.

People can complain about the pantomiming all they want and can even bitch about the layout being the same as the other years but i respect this young woman. She is so committed to her material. She is arguably the best female jumper every next to... Midori Ito and the most consistent since... Yamaguchi? I’m a fan of her work. I don’t re watch her programs as her style is not what I love but who cares? She is best in class

Quite underwhelming text skates with so few entries on singles and just a ton of 2nd-3rd tier dance teams.
 
Love Tuk's SP! The character of the music actually matches the are movements she tends to use. The most notable thing is the size of her jumps. Mishin's technique produces much more classic big jumps, of which I am a fan in comparison small fastly rotated jumps.

Radionova's SP looks good. Her 2A landing looks better. Radionova has such a dramatic flare that is really felt. I am still not a huge fan of that "intentional Lip" technique on her Lutz, but it is here to stay for her and many others now.

Medvedeva's SP looks goods. I would prefer she ended the program with the combination spin ending in an I position over the layback spin ending in a Biellman position because her I position is more impressive IMHO. The real wow factor is the steps and transitions. There is a lot of good skating in that program.

Is planning 6 quads for two programs: lutz and toe toop in the short and two toe loops, lutz and salchow
He worked on all quad jumps this off season, his quad lutz is quite consistent (yesterday was his worst try in a long time)

"In this program, I seem to re-learn this world and that other one that is also luminous and there is no fear in it .At the very end of the speech, I return to my body and I hear my breath, specially recorded for this composition, "- said the figure skater.

About Med- (and I'm saying this because I really like her and I believe she is very versatile and expressive and can do so much better!) - That ending is just ridiculous. Stop it now! Stop the over the top pantomime, stop the kindergarten acting, stop being influenced by Averbukh and his ego and blah blah up-in-the-sky philosophy and "deep" stories. Do Sailor Moon or anything teenage fun and I'd be totally happy with it, or grow up and skate a real program. This is just embarrassing. (The first time I watched it I wondered what on earth those noises in the middle of Chopin was. Now I wish I had not been enlightened:scream:)

(And I find the the program in general boring. Pretty won't do it for me)

I know @bardtoob , Maria was a mess until she switched to Tcahikovskaya, but I choose to be in denial a little while longer, as Viktor is really very nice, and maybe he clicks with Pogo and Tsareva?!? With Bute it seemed she really found her soulmate in Elena T. and finally what worked for her. Tcahikovskaya and Kotin also coached Davidov, and he continued being a head case for most of his career. Viktor K had Klimkin, but that was after his former coach passed away, (but Klimkin did win Euro bronze with Viktor) and Volchkova, but she couldn't be helped anyway. He also had Kulik, who became Euro champ and world silver medalist under his tutage. I have faith!

I imagine coming back from the Worlds would be traumatic, whether that is the cause of Anna's problems or not. I hope she looks at Kostner and Kostner's early career and finds inspiration there (Caro did not have the competition, but she had the whole burden of expectation)

Liked SinKats Free Dance A LOT (didn't expect at all) :swoon:
Tiff&Jon also looked strong and fast, not sure if I liked the dance but it's definetely better than Zhulin's waltz for them last year

I am awaiting better videos than that live feed.

SinKats looked good, but he rushed things as usual IMO.

Tiff&Jon have a good program, but they skated like shit IMO too. He's injured and couldn't perform the lifts well, and showing without costumes takes out from that program IMO too.

Liked Bobrova's choreography, but they skated slow and didn't deliver everything.

The others are crap but are trying hard.

Did you? I hated the FD. The music is too heavy and makes their skating look heavy too. (Like if skating is too hard work). Interesting that Mao's skating with this music was never heavy; one probably need to be a really good skater to get away with music like this.
Thanks God that Zahorski Gurreiro moved from Zhulin, otherwise they would be skating to this, and it wouldn't suit them either.
 
S/K have impressive lifts this year, but this FD looks like another typical Russian high drama program, I also think they should change their costumes. Now, I`m curious to see B/S and Z/G.
