I don't think people expected instant success, but at the same time they did not expect that the results will be as bad as they were.

Actually Y/M look very good together, matching in height and ability. Mozgov isn't particularly fast on the ice I assume (though I've never seen him live), just strong and well, handsome. Why would he be better than Ruslan?

Too bad about Yanovskaya, I really liked them together. RUssian Fed should definitely invest in Mozgov. It would be sucha shame to let him rot or quit.

I read elsewhere (maybe Golden Skate?) that Popova & Mozgov had a tryout, but there were other possible partnerships being considered. I wish Betina the best. IMO, her personality on the ice is absolutely meant for dance.

There is no "next Plushenko". By all means, honor Plushenko for what he's achieved, but don't expect Kovtun or Kolyada or whoever to step into his skates. Let these guys be who they are and achieve what they can achieve without such unrealistic expectations.

As for Anna, according to some posts on Russian forums, she does not want to retire , so the problem was not in her health but it will be hard for her to find a new partner as she is tall
