How does one make that setting? I’m using the new format. Not voluntarily. That is what showed up when I opened up FSU recently.

There are two places that I know of where you can make the change. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page on the left there will be an icon of a little paint brush and next to it for you probably 'FSUniverse.' If you mouse over that you should get a pop up box that says 'Style Chooser,' and you can then select between FSUniverse and FSU Classic.

The other way is to click on your name in the top nav bar on the right (next to your avatar). You will be a drop down box with various options, one of which is 'Preferences.' Click on that and the top option on the right will be 'Style' - pick 'FSU Classic' from the drop down list.

I miss the old default emojis too - especially the one with the smirky face, one eye closed and the other popped wide open, as I used it in wtf sorts of situations. Every other change is fine so far. It still seems a little weird but in a couple of days I won’t even remember what the previous version looked like.

Do you have your view set to FSU Classic?

I usually use my iPad to read FSU. Given that I’m of a certain age, I always pinch the screen text to enlarge it. It doesn’t work on the new format. I have to manually hold my fingers on the screen after pinching it to keep it bigger. Now when I let go it pops back small and my eyes are hurting!

Safari...the browser I have always used.

I also find the new board very difficult to read on my phone. The fonft is very faint/thin looking. I preferred the old look. Can I set the font maybe to bigger and bolder sonehow (I already wear glasses, so it is not that)

Jumping off from this post, I have not gone through all the comments, but even if I click on “Page 200 gazillion”, because I don’t want to read all the pages, I will be directed to page one. This happens even on threads I have visited before so for me it’s not just bumping to the unread messages.

But sometimes I just want to go to page 200 gazillion and not the unread messages. Can this be done?

And thanks for all the work to upgrade the Board! Even if I do have to buy new glasses for the font....

Clicking the title will take you to your first unread post or the first post of the thread (if you've read everything). If you click the page numbers, you'll be taken to that page. Am I missing the issue here?

Yes. Type text in to the box and it'll expand letting you create a thread in that forum.

I'm liking the new changes very much. But some of you mention a mobile version - there's a mobile version of FSU (a mobile URL) other than accessing FSU on the mobile's browser?

There is no other mobile version. Just the resized version in your mobile browser.

Is there still an option for 'read first unread post'? And an indicator for threads with new posts, like there used to be?

Clicking the title will take you to your first unread post. The indicator has been removed and the title will just be bolder if you've got unread posts.

I can't find the settings for alerts.

It used to mark an alert as read if I viewed the thread from new posts. It's leaving a new alert after I've read the post so I end up reading a post twice from new posts and new alerts.

This was actually a feature we added independently. I think it's been updated but I'll check since I also miss that feature.

Are some of the new emoji only supposed to show up in mobile browsing? Because the famous eggplants looks very purple from my smartphone, but show up as boring little black shapes on my laptop.

Another vote for Verdana.

They'll depend on your device and operating system. Since essentially they're just text from your keyboard, it's up to your browser on how they should be interpreted and displayed.

That's what I was trying to say before.

So on the issue of the fonts and colors... I see people complaining about how it looks on mobile, it gets adjusted, and then it's bad for me on my laptop. I am not sure what the answer is as both platforms have to be supported. But right now the striping where every other row in a list of posts has a background color is so faint that I often don't notice it. Also, the differentiation between the pinned posts and the rest of the posts is so slight that I can't see it at all and get confused at times. And the font is pretty big and the bold is pretty bold, perhaps too big/bold, so I'd hate to see it get bigger and bolder.

The pinned post issue is the biggest issue for me. I can live with the rest of it.

Yes, of course, sorry about that.

The entire page is off to one side if that makes sense. It does not format correctly. Also, I found that when tapping on an emoticon, you must do it very delicately, very deliberately, or else you get the neighboring three to four emoticons along with the first emoticon that you never intended to be included in the post. Plus, you’ve heard that the page continually defaults back to the first page, and you find yourself scrolling for minutes on end to get to a specific point in the thread. As if that is not enough, sorry @Server Guy, and, as mentioned, the font is very faint and hard to read. The text is one big block, no breaks at all, unlike when using a laptop or tablet.

I guess you could say that the revised version is very buggy on an iPhone, for the lack of a better description, at least mine. Fortunately, I do not post very often using an iPhone. So, I do not anticipate a great deal of associated with it in the future.

I just did research (wow) and it depends on my device. On the desktop on Firebird (where I am now), if I click on page 10 of Japanese Figure Skating, for example, I am taken to page 10. Yay!

But I just clicked on page 10 from my iPad Air 2 Safari, and I was taken to page 1, even though I clicked on page 10. Sad face.

No, that wasn't quite what you wrote. But I know you meant well FWIW, I use Chrome on both my mobile and my laptop, though obviously the devices are different. I don't really see the point of emoji that work only on some systems, but retro smilies work well, so I'll just leave the Moomin eggplants to the rest of you.

My impression so far is that the upgrade works better on mobile than it does on my laptop. But I see that other people are having the opposite experience. I hope things can be optimized for different interfaces, so much as possible.

That is very strange. I just tried that on my iPad Air, and I went right page 10. I use Safari. I was also able to go to page 6. My iOS is the one right before 11.2.1. I haven't updated yet.

ETA I just updated my iPad and re-tested. I had no problem going to page 6 or 10.

So since I wrote, this I noticed some changes. It's much easier to see the pinned posts. It's a little thing but it would be even easier if the first non-pinned post was white and not the same color as the pinned ones. (So even would have a background and odd rows would be white.) Not sure you can even do that...

I am still having problems reading the font on my MacBook, my iPadPro, and my iPhone 7+. I like the overall look of it, but is there no way to have a larger font size? The way it is now, when I make it big enough to read comfortably, I have to keep scrolling side to side.
