Drive to Survive trailer is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsNxJ1TfxKs&ab_channel=FORMULA1

The editor who found the clip of Lewis making that "20 years" remark must be over the moon after this off-season...

Also, we have the episode titles and summaries: https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/formula-1-drive-to-survive-season-6-release-date-trailer-news
Episode 1, “Money Talks”
Lawrence Stroll will do whatever it takes for Aston Martin to become world champion. But his dreams could be over before the new season even starts.

Episode 2, “Fall from Grace”
Hopes are high for Nyck de Vries as he takes his first shot at Formula 1. With the pressure mounting, he struggles to keep up the pace.

Episode 3, “Under Pressure”
McLaren has a lot to prove after last season. As star driver Lando Norris’ car lets him down yet again, he starts considering his options.

Episode 4, “The Last Chapter”
It’s a battle at the back between Haas and Williams. While one team sticks with tradition, the other’s ready to make bold new moves.

Episode 5, “Civil War”
Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly have been competing since childhood. Can they overcome their rivalry now that they’re on the same team?

Episode 6, “Leap of Faith”
Lewis Hamilton’s been loyal to Mercedes for 13 years. But winning comes first — and with his contract up for renewal, he has to make a tough decision.

Episode 7, “C’est la Vie”
An investment from Hollywood stars piles pressure on Alpine’s management. Between frustrated drivers and disappointing results, something has to give.

Episode 8, “Forza Ferrari”
In Italy, Ferrari is a religion. So when the team arrives in Monza, all eyes are on new principal Fred Vasseur to make fans’ prayers come true.

Episode 9, “Three’s a Crowd”
Daniel Ricciardo is finally back on the circuit. But when an accident sends him to the sidelines yet again, a rookie reserve steps in to take his seat.

Episode 10, “Red or Black”
With the season nearing its end and the winner already assured, rivals Mercedes and Ferrari are locked in a fierce battle for second place.

I'm not enjoying some of this and its implications already. Alpine had some drama last year but not enough to justify two episodes (5 and 7). 6 is going to age like milk after the news of the off-season. And I am very not happy that it looks like McLaren's episode (3) is going to focus on Norris, and that the only rookie getting proper attention will be the one who lost his drive mid-year (2).

On the flip side, the behind-the-scenes of the Silverstone tyre test where Daniel got his seat back (9) is going to be worth its weight in gold. It's good to see Williams getting some airtime (4) since they have been very absent from DTS over the years.

I said last year that I thought Netflix were starting to throw the drivers under the bus in favour of cosying up to the Team Principals and I see that this may be the case again. With that said, I wonder if Oscar actually refused to take part. I would not blame him after the way he was portrayed in S5 and he is a very no-frills sort of character, but it will be a shame if the super rookie doesn't get some attention from it.

Watched 9 episodes of Drive to Survive last night and E10 this morning. I have thoughts:

    • F1 had three rookies last year + Lawson for a few races. Sargeant and Piastri had less screen time combined than Lawson, and de Vries, the worst of the rookies and the one who didn't even survive the whole season, got a whole episode.
    • For that matter, HELLO? The Super Rookie? Oscar? If you only watched Drive to Survive, you would think Piastri's only achievements last year were the P4 in Silverstone and being precious little Norris' teammate. The fact that he got podiums? Not mentioned. The fact that HE WAS THE ONLY NON-MAX SPRINT RACE WINNER? Not important enough to show on Netflix.
    • Sargeant didn't fare any better; not even his struggles or the will-he-won't-he over his seat were referenced. His main appearance is laughing as Albon makes a lot of jokes.
    • The de Vries episode will make you lose any last remaining sympathy you might have had towards de Vries for losing his seat. He is breathtakingly arrogant and straight up insults Tsunoda early in the episode. When you compare him to Logan and Oscar, especially Oscar who came in with all kinds of junior records, and you think about how they were humble, willing to learn, reserved, it looks even worse.
    • Episode Six is absolutely hilarious in hindsight because it's all about Hamilton and will-he-won't-he re-sign with Mercedes. The triumphant end of the episode is that he does. There is no additional strap or title card to let us know about The Bombshell.
    • The Williams/Haas episode was cleverly well done. Though Netflix has a hard on for Steiner for some reason, the way he and Vowles were contrasted as leaders tells the story - particularly when Vowles, in his lovely soothing calm voice, says he can't remember the last time he screamed and shouted, and in the next shot, Steiner is swearing at people...
    • Otmar Szafnauer's sacking was treated with a soft touch and victimised him too much. The guy was an incompetent buffoon who completely fumbled the bag on both one of the greatest drivers to ever do it and the supertalent rookie. The fact that the show depicts him checking his phone and "learning" the news while standing in front of the OP81 sign outside McLaren was terribly, ironically funny, though.
    • I am glad that Netflix didn't try and make The Zandvoort Incident into a rival/enemy situation between Oscar and Daniel.
    • Getting to see behind the scenes of the now very famous Silverstone Tyre Test was quite good, though. Watching Daniel blow everyone's socks off within just a handful of laps back will never get old.
    • Whatever people say about Red Bull favouring Verstappen, it is so obvious that Horner loves Daniel best.

Has anyone else been watching Avatar on Netflix? I'm finding it a really enjoyable watch. They did a great job with the sky bison and winged lemur, and the casting in general is far superior to the movie version.

I watched the original series off and on with my kid and my take on the Netflix version is that they didn't understand the source material at all and/or decided to ignore its message in favor of "not having any message" which is just the same as supporting the status quo. Which was not the message of Avatar at all.

I haven't watched it because I didn't particularly enjoy the series (literally never met anyone else who doesn't like it but I've accepted my fate as an anomaly) but every thing I've heard from fans of the original series who have checked out the live action series is the exact same thing. I guess it really was a red flag when the original creators left.

Little mic just started watching the old animated avatar series. I’d forgotten how good it was. I don’t have much desire to watch the new series. I just feel it really didn’t need to be redone.

I finally watched the first two episodes of Shogun and it is so good! I never read the book unfortunately but I do vaguely remember watching the first tv series.

So You Think You Can Dance is finally back on March 4 on FOX!! I hope the new format isn’t too reality-show drama based and there’s still enough dancing. Also wish Nigel hadn’t been a creep and gotten himself booted as a judge, subjecting us to JoJo Siwa again.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Allegiance. It's basically a Canadian version of The Rookie, but nowhere near as engaging.

Currently halfway through episode one of The Regime. It's a bit quirky and I'm not sure whether or not I like it yet, but Kate Winslett is normally good value, and this is no exception.

I came here to see if anyone was watching this. It came up as a recommendation on my Binge last night and saw that it had Kate Winslet in it. So I think I will give this a go.

Now that I finished Succession I have to find something else. I really liked it but 4 seasons was probably enough.

Once I figured out it is meant to be a very, very dry comedy it made more sense. I don't think it will be for everyone, but I liked it well enough that I'll watch the next episode.

On the recommendation of some friends of mine, I started binging The Rookie not too long ago and I am absolutely LOVING it. It's got some serious moments here and there (it is a cop show) but it also mixes in some humor and lots of heartwarming stuff too. I needed a new show to watch and I am SO glad that I finally took them up on the suggestion! I'm actually on a great pace to get it all binged in time to watch the S6 premiere live on Tuesday too. Such a fun show! :cheer:

I’ve been hearing so much about Chenford that I was intrigued, and your posts inspired me to start watching 😊 I’m only four episodes in and I watch just one per day so it will take me forever to catch up, but it’s just what I need for my breakfast and afternoon break entertainment!

When the person in power behaves like a monarch and has so many foibles….. Trumpian to be sure. Winslet is so good.
I have started watching “Shogun” and frame by frame this is a visually stunning series. I am at the beginning so there is more to see. I honestly did not think this would be my cup of tea. But I can’t take my eyes off of it.

Saw Dune 2. If you didn't like Dune 1, I'm pretty sure you won't like Dune 2. Yes, it has more action but it has more everything. Also, it drags in parts.

For people planning to go to Dune 2, I don't think you need to know anything about Dune 1 as most of it is made clear pretty early on. But there are a few story beats that will land deeper if you know these things:

Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides) was conceived (bred really) by his Batshit mom who is part of some female-only cult/coven/sect to be The Chosen One. She raises him with that in mind including lots of fight training with a guy named Gurney (this is important later). But this is against the rules (the coven members are only supposed to have girls) so the Reverend Mother is pissed. She shows up to test Paul. He has to put his hand in this box that gives him intense pain and if he pulls his hand out, he gets stabbed in the neck with a pointy poisoned thing (like an awl) and dies. Since there is a second movie, he obviously passes.

There's a bunch of stuff after that which isn't important except it gets the family to the planet with the Worm poop (Spice) that everyone wants and ends with a lot of people dead except Timothée Chalamet and Batshit Mom who end up in the desert and taken in by the planet's original inhabitants (called Frenems). Timothée starts to go native (he was already very interested in the planet) because of Zendya (and who could blame him. It's Zendya.)

Oh, and one of the Frenems also thinks Paul is the Chosen One according to Frenem lore. Nobody else seems to though IIRC.

Never saw the movie but love the recap! I've only seen the David Lynch one.

Nothing new but I was watching a few episodes of “The United States of Tara” and the question occurred to me: Does Toni Collette give a bad performance? EVER? Might be underrated…
Not in anything I've seen. I haven't always liked what she's in but she's always been great.

I'm also coming up blank on that question. There are just some actors who are always good - sometimes even when the script is awful.

That was a good series. Had a young Brie Larsen as the daughter.

I watch Toni Collette in Mafia Mamma last night. Quite an enjoyable film. Better than the one I started watching which was the Will Ferrell Sherlock Holmes film. Could only last 10 minutes of that.
