DWTS S26: All-Athletes Edition! (i.e. the DWTS thread for NOT yammering about what happened 24 years ago)

Yeah... that decision may send her to the finale. The audience for DWTS tends to be more conservative. Viewers often vote for people because their declare their Christian values even if they can’t dance.

That’s a problem for Tonya because I expected conservative voters to vote for her.

That's why I won't be particularly upset if Mirai doesn't make it to finale, although it would be nice. The reasons why people make it far are often for very random reasons/voting blocks and not based on actual dance abilities. Plus, it's a 4 episode season, so I say no shame in putting out some beautiful dances and making 3 of 4 episodes, even if she doesn't go all the way (if based on actual dancing abilities, she clearly deserves to be in the finale, but...).

I’ve seen that for years, which is why I stopped watching. I watched for season 19 and Laurie season. But it’s ridiculous at a point.

I really hoping that Mirai made the finale. I’ve looked on social media and it looks like she and Adam seem to be the ones making some traction with the youth vote. I haven’t seen the same level for anyone else. On YouTube, they both have the most popular videos each week. Plus they had a giveaway event, where they’d give a free hat to a viewer that posted evidence of their voting on social media.

But DWTS lives for drama.

Nope. Her background makes her super appealing to rural voters. Not coming from a lower income but her more country aspect. Ty from season 8 is a good example.

Any athlete in decent shape has a reasonable chance of being good.

One would think so, but apparently this is not the case. I was surprised that the snowboarder was so awkward. Ditto Ryan Lochte on his season.

I feel like with Adam I haven't seen a new side to him yet because his 1st dance has the same feel as his SP. I loved it, but I wanted to see more. Now with contemporary I feel like I lost another chance.

Mirai doing quickstep to Bo$$ could be interesting. I was hoping for a tango or a paso doble. But it looks like they want to keep it light and young for her.

Unfortunately it's only fair to pair off Mirai and Adam in the dance off. They're on a different level than everyone else and ir wouldn't see fair. I do think it's unfair for Tonya to be paired off with Jennie.

Grrrmpffhh. I want to keep voting for both Mirai and Adam and I don't want to vote for either Jennie or Tonya so I'm a little bit miffed the (predictable) dance-off pairings.

On the bright side.... This "dance-off" means the 2 couples are sharing the stage, right? So at least Adam&Jenna and Mirai&Alan have actual practice time together while on SOI.

ET interviewed Derek Hough who said he's rooting for Tonya, not because he thinks she's the best dancer. He didn't mention who he thinks that is. But he "loves a story of redemption". IMO redemption usually includes an admission of guilt & apology to the victim & besides that's a horrible way to decide who to vote for. We all know the winner of the mirror-ball isn't always the best dancer but it's odd that a professional dancer is promoting voting for reasons other than the dancing.

It is a awful dis-grace that dancer's on the show are saying Tonia is getting some sort of ark, all she should of got is time in the slammer. My wife and I are both very happy that finally someone on this web sight had the nerves to comment about the terrible casting and voting and everything this "Dancing" has turned into. We continue to pray that something will change but our prayer's do not seem to be getting as much of a priority as they should.
