Downtown Jason Brown - Let the Good Times Roll (uber thread #2)

It's the same shit. Kicks everywhere same choreography and a splat on the quad. Rohene gets all this credit for being innovative and cool but he's recycled the same shit for Jason for years. The Flip/Toe which he's been doing for a decade was even slow.He is the best spinner though end of story

One thing I will say is that he's mastered the Axel. Any of you have even a Double Axel, fear it, have trouble for years and try and fix it? It is terrifying and tough and honestly messes with your self esteem. Trust me. The fact that he's fixed that and honestly owns it does say a lot about him. He's gotta have Quads or he'll be the best skater that never was. BTW, use someone else other than Rohene next year... PLEASE.

I have a confession to make...

I'd much rather he'd have used Wait for It. Not only is that song so beautifully uplifting and so very Jason, it also works out of context. I feel like The Room Where It Happens relies too heavily on context for its expositional lyrics to work.

That said, who else wants to see a group ex to Aaron Burr, Sir or The Ten Duel Commandments?

Rohene Ward tends to over-choreograph at times to the point where I compare his work to the old Debbie Allen choreography from the 80s and 90s. However, since this is IJS-era skating, too much choreography is refreshing compared to what we get most of the time.

Plus, every choreographer recycles. Rohene loves his kicks, sass, and clutter to the point where it sometimes works against the music. David Wilson loves putting girls in soft lyrical fragile pieces while they caress their faces. Jeff likes to take music from his Spotify playlist and give skaters moves he himself would sell better. Lori Nichol has that egg laying move and the same program she gives skaters who she's only collecting a paycheck from compared to the ones she's inspired by. Igor and his sort of wife loves generic arm raising and O faces in the space of actual choreography. Marina loves strong man protect woman and everything else is sort of looks lost. Chris Dean likes treating female ice dancers like a prop to be used however he wants.

I'm honestly confused with some of the choreography to the song itself. I sort of feel Ward made Jason do some generic Broadway jazz hand poses at times, and the song could have been anything and Ward would have made the same program. That said, at least Ward has Jason really moving out there and trying to really give the audience something more than stroking to an element.

Here's Jason's Glacier Falls LP, courtesy of @hiroko_0221 on twitter and snowice on YouTube:

So, I'm not going to panic. But his jumps took a vacation to Bali while his LP was happening, he did attempt a 4salchow for the first time, he landed a 3axel, and Ross Miner won the event. :drama: Triumph for @Jeschke

Is he injured?? :( so many doubles that didn't necessarily seem intentional.. :shuffle: I'm ready to tear my hair out and start practicing Wicca if it's going to keep him healthy. The program is coming along beautifully, but it needs the jumps to have the maximum impact. I see a ton of potential in this program when it has the jumps. Stay healthy Jason!! :cheer2:

You think he's lost his jumps since April? Or the SP? :p

Cmon. It's a new program, and he's still getting the choreo down. Did you notice that there are a lot of changes, and how much more confident he seems with the program as a whole?

For the record, all of the doubled jumps looked intentional to me. He did pop the last jump from what I presume was an intended double to a single, and I'm sure that wasn't intentional, but that's it. We know from her interviews that this is how Kori trains her programs. He did a very good 3A and made a decent attempt at his first ever 4S - he stood up on it! The quads are definitely still a work in progress, but I doubt you need to panic.

What had happened was, I said that I wasn't going to panic but I did. :shuffle: I just want to prepare for the worst, just in case I need to get in contact with a voodoo witch in December.

The program is spine tingling, I did it all out of love. :drama:

Too funny! Seriously, aside from a couple of people who've said they hate the music or think it's generic or think the choreo is recycled, it seems like most people love the FS already. I think it will be a showstopper when it's finished.

And I'm actually really glad he only did doubles here. Remember 2015 when he was first trying to add the 4T? His programs were brand new - and like these, very difficult - and he fell on all of his other jumps and repeatedly < the 3A through out the season, ending up sidelined for 6 months with a back injury. So I think they're being smart here.

I actually think the SP needs a lot more work before it will do what Jason wants it to do - knock people out.

The high quality videos from Glacier Falls have been posted on icenetwork. Jason's videos are available individually:

SP link

FS link

I really appreciate having higher quality videos with no obstructions and screaming fans. The angle is different from the previous videos I've watched so it's interesting to see the programs from another viewpoint.

FYI, IN videos don't seem to be playing in Chrome; try a different browser. (Thanks, @misskarne!)

The SP seems to work better now that I can hear the music more clearly/all the way through! That's a relief to me, even if the general opinion remains divided. :p

Sadly, the breathtaking split jump seems to lose some impact because now I can hear that it's *not* totally silent before, and the subsequent crowd reaction isn't as noticeable -- but I think the timing might have been slightly off here, so I hope to see that again :cheer2:

Jason is the headliner at Sun Valley this weekend. Last year he performed Writing's on the Wall & Canned Heat and the video was posted on Icenetwork. Will he repeat those programs this year or does he have new exhibitions to reveal? Maybe he will do a TES lite version of The Room where It happens?

Does anyone plan to attend?

I feel like Jason always does a lot of doubles during the pre-season. It doesn't worry me because it's normal for him, and he's good at peaking at the right time so I trust that he knows what he's doing.

On the latest edition of IceTalk, Jackie Wong confirms that Jason intentionally did doubles at Glacier Falls.

Here's a direct link to Jason's latest Youtube video at Sun Valley:

New video from Jason!

Champs Camp 2017

My first thought is.. Wow, they have that much control over them.. Let me see your hair, your makeup, your costumes, show me your programs..... and then they also have to get critiqued...wow....

Well, I guess thats what it is about and the purpose for.

So am I correct that in all of that Gracie then never even showed them her programs?????

Damn Jason has more energy in a single minute then Ive had all day.

I can't with the hair either. It's not flattering,:( and I want *everything* to flatter Jason. That said, I hope I'm wrong and the judges love it.

And my main men Grant and "JB" in the house:respec:

Exactly how would you guys like Jason's hair to be styled? :p

Ah, we are figure skating fans, we just criticize, we don't suggest:p

*anything* but a "fade" on the side. Plain old pony.:) Man bun :) T&I braids:)

Of course, if he gets a quad called rotated and landed, he could have the Stars and Stripes shaved on the side of his head for all I care:D:scream:
