I don't either, but here's the link -Per NY Times Dick Button has passed away at 95. Rest in peace.
I saw it on Facebook but do not have access to the article.
What an awful day. RIP Sir.Oh no! Dick Button was one of those omnipresent figures, kind of like Queen Elizabeth II, I somehow believed would be immortal. What an utterly bizarre and painful day.
No one had zingers like Dick Button. I'm not sure anyone has been or will ever be as influential as he was on the sport. RIP to an all-time legend.
Thank you for gifting this. What a beautiful obituary. He was a visionary both on and off the ice and I doubt many of us would love figure skating if not for him.![]()
Dick Button, 95, Figure Skating Champion and TV Commentator, Dies
He won an Emmy for his enthusiastic and sometimes acerbic analysis on sportscasts, but before that he made history as a two-time Olympic gold medalist.www.nytimes.com
I need to gather my thoughts about this, on this day of all days, before I share any reflections.
I have never skated, but I learned to recognize jumps through his commentary. His commentary influenced how I see skaters to this day. What a painful day.
RIP to an absolute legend.
More than anyone, Dick Button really shaped the way I watch skating and what I love about skating. His commentary was an education and is something that is really missing in today’s coverage. A great champion and a great voice for the sport.
Was that when she sat in his lap? One of my favorite Uncle Dick stories.May he rest in peace. I learned so much both as a skater and as a fan from his commentary.
I'll never forget sprinting through the San Jose Fairmont lobby to go get @my little pony so she could talk to Dick after I had spotted him in a back hallway.
