Detroit selected to host 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships

@misskarne, I think it’s 2019CHAMPS. It’s on the upper right side of the ticket screen at some point in the process. Definitely not in your face - I had the same problem as you until I saw it tucked in there.

ETA: I had a lot of problems getting mine. From the website not sending me a password reminder so I had to create a new account to it erroring out right as I purchased (I had to call to verify that they had record of my purchase - the credit card company had texted me that it went through). My mother, thankfully, had no problems.

Continued evidence of my theory that USFSA wants this to be the worst attended Nationals in history. It's almost like they don't want us to attend :)

If USFSA had their way we would just give them money and not show up. They seem to view fans as some curse they have to bear. :)

I have felt this my entire skating fandom so that's why I've only been to 4 US Nationals versus 9 Canadian nationals. I'd go to Canadians more often if it wasn't so costly to fly into Canada from Louisiana as it seems like I can fly to Europe cheaper!

An e-mail from USFS about a ticket purchase incentive program for skating clubs (nice that they are doing it but the discount and awards only apply to all-event tix and most skating families, even local ones, aren't going to buy those) included this schedule, a few changes from the one currently posted on the Nats website:

FRIDAY, JAN. 18 - WEDNESDAY, JAN. 23, 2019 Juvenile through junior competition

THURSDAY, JAN. 24, 2019
Session 4 – Junior Pairs Free Skate
Session 5 – Championship Pairs Short Program
Session 6 – Opening Ceremony & Championship Ladies Short Program

FRIDAY, JAN. 25, 2019
Session 7 – Junior Ladies Free Skate
Session 8 – Junior Free Dance
Session 9 – Junior Men’s Free Skate
Session 10 – Championship Rhythm Dance
Session 11 – Championship Ladies Free Skate

SATURDAY, JAN. 26, 2019
Session 12 – Championship Pairs Free Skate & Men’s Short Program (groups 1 & 2)
Session 13 – Championship Pairs Free Skate & Men’s Short Program (groups 3 & 4)
Session 14 – Championship Free Dance

SUNDAY, JAN. 27, 2019
Session 15 – Championship Men’s Free Skate
Session 16 – Skating Spectacular

So the Junior Men and Ladies FS have been moved to Fri from Wed - I assume their SPs are on Wed now instead of Tues, but who knows. Looks like Wed will be mostly practice in the main arena and I would think the event warmups on Fri, at least the Senior ones, would have to be out at DSC.

It will be interesting to see how the Sat sched works - there are fewer dance teams than ladies, so with a shorter-than-usual block of time needed for the Sat night event, I wonder if the second half of pairs and men (session 13) will be in the evening. I'm sure NBC would love to show Nathan's SP live in prime time.

I checked the Detroit website yesterday to see if a new "tentative" schedule was posted. Post #307 mentions a new schedule going out to skating clubs, but it still is not posted on the official website. I sent an email to USFS asking if the new tentative schedule could be posted on the website and the response was to check the official website for the most current schedule.

I just checked and the old schedule is still on the website

The LOC likely set up and manages the website, so USFS probably has no control over what's there. Single-session tickets go on sale Sept 11, so we'll definitely know the event days/times then. (And that may be when the LOC is planning to post the new sched...it's possible there may be additional changes to what I posted above from the e-mail.)

The only contact info on the Nationals website goes to [email protected] so there doesn't seem to be any way to contact the LOC directly. All of the schedules are tentative until the event is over. At any rate, another schedule should be posted after single event tickets go on sale.

Really? It’s their premier event and they have “no control”. If that’s true it’s an example of unbelievabely poor contracting and management

I meant they don't have access to post schedule updates. It's possible what I posted above isn't finalized, although that came from USFS and went to clubs.

I realize I am the Worlds least tech savvy human but I can no longer find the schedule for the DSC events. I do want to say goodbye to the Novice events before Nationals goes to only Junior and Senior levels. Can anyone point me in that direction? The 2019 website only shows the events at Little Caesars Arena. Thanks!

Bizarre..... After all why would people want to go to events if they don't even know about them????

Question for anyone who has had experience. Does anyone use a Passport Card to cross the border to Canada - (Not a Nexus Card)? Do you have any problems?

I have/had one and not a problem. You pull it out and there are special lanes that allow you to breeze right through. Last time it took me 30 seconds through customs. Most of it was joking with the guy. He was cute

That sounds like the Nexus card to me. Are you sure it's the passport card. They are not the same.

I used one once, a few years ago, because I'd forgotten to renew my passport, and the passport card was available to get same-day. (They wouldn't issue me a same-day passport because I couldn't prove my travel plans -- I was only planning to drive to Canada and stay with friends, so no travel/accommodation confirmations to show.)

You can also cross into Canada by car with a Michigan Enhanced Driver's License, so having a card of some sort instead of a full passport document is quite common, and I don't think you will have a problem.

I have both. I lost my DL before worlds in London and I could get the passport card very quickly without going to the DMV. But they both work fine. Most Canadians use the passport card. The Nexus card is 45.00 extra and you get it a week later.

The Ticketmaster 313 website is possibly the worst ticketing website I've ever attempted to use. I couldn't get in with my email account, and they haven't sent me a new password despite multiple requests. I created a new account yesterday evening and was in no problem, but had to wait for confirmation from other people before purchasing. This morning I can't get into the new account (and same thing with the requests for a new password). Do they not want to sell tickets? :wall:

ETA I finally got a password reset email (after numerous attempts) and bought tickets. The only option was 'mobile'. I have no idea how this will work given that the confirmation email doesn't appear to have any tickets included.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding off on creating both paper and e-tickets until much closer to the event. Event times are not nailed down this early, and they are usually included on tickets.

That makes sense. They actually returned my call yesterday (after I'd managed to purchase tickets online) and she said about the same thing. It just wasn't really explained at all on the site, except to say something about mobile orders and "you'll see when you get your confirmation email". I saw nothing LOL.

Updated schedule posted with times, slightly different than what they sent out earlier: http://2019uschampionships.com/schedule/

Single-session tickets are listed as going on sale yesterday. Except they don't appear to be on sale yet. I assume the LOC or USFS will send an e-mail to anyone on either list when they are.

This event is actually rather scary...... I feel like no one has a clue!
