Davis and White #36: What a Wonderful World

I really missed seeing them compete this weekend. I'm so proud of where US ice dance is today, but it still really isn't the same without Meryl and Charlie. They were always such energetic competitors, and they had the ability to skate with so much power. It's weird once your first favorite team retires, and they truly were the ones to start it all for me. I'm thrilled that they've both found so much happiness in their lives away from competition, though - they both seem very fulfilled. :)

Also, that is one cute baby - congrats to Tanith and Charlie! :)

Same feeling here, I miss watching them compete so much, especially during the Olympic season, at US nationals, where they gave us so many unforgettable performances through the years. I know it's been 4 years since Sochi, and 8 years since Vancouver, but I can never forget the excitement they have brought to us. And believe or not, the more competitions I watched without them, the more I miss them. But I also enjoy the greatness of US ice dancing now, with so many contenders and promising young team. Meryl and Charlie must be very proud of them as well. :)

Speaking of Randi Strong, she is now coaching and choreographing for skaters. I'm guessing Meryl and Charlie had a little something to do with that. :)

There's been pictures of her working with the Shibutanis, so I think you're right about that. Meryl/Charlie's influence has to be big among the U.S. ice dance teams, especially in Michigan. I think Meryl was responsible for Serge Onik being a resource as well.

Yes, Serge confirmed in an interview that it was Meryl who recommended he work with the U.S. Pairs and Ice Dance teams. He recently worked with Chock and Bates as well.

My coworker who lives in the Denver area has a daughter who skates, and he sent me a photo of his daughter with Meryl and Charlie. He said they were practicing at her rink last week. I didn't realize they were in Colorado. I was thinking they were near the NBC broadcast center in Connecticut. He said after they practiced they took time to talk to all the young skaters and take photos with them. :)

No, today they were in Park City, UT for a Team USA promotional event. Meryl is doing commentary/analysis on a local news station in Detroit and Charlie is doing commentary for the post-event Olympic Ice shows that broadcast from a studio in CT on the nights there is skating (well, except for tonight, I guess).
