Dallas Air Show Crash

I just saw this on Daily Mail. How awful :( It looked like the larger plane would have no idea what was coming.

There is an alternate angle available, but it is pretty brutal so click at your own risk: https://twitter.com/IFNY2775/status/1591529313958232064

It looks as though the B-17 had no idea the smaller plane was there. As big as it is, the B-17 may have been in the small plane's blind spot as he was making the banking turn - and of course the small plane is faster.

What I don't understand is how they lost each other. An airshow is usually highly coordinated and even if they didn't have radar (unlikely with so many old planes) they would absolutely have been following VFR and almost certainly had a local traffic radio channel they were all talking to each other on. All the planes in the air should have known each other's location or direction from that.

It's very lucky that the planes did not hit any houses or spectators when they came down. May the pilots of the small plane and the crew of the B-17 rest in peace.

Since we're local this was all over every local channel this morning & I'm sure they will be repeating it all day. I haven't watched any of the videos. I don't want that image in my head. RIP.
