Cipres accused of sexual misconduct

No. The article doesn't say that.

Thanks...is it possible that Cipres's phone was hacked and it had that picture in his gallery and was sent because the idiot thought it was funny. Or the person who picked the phone up...took a randam picture and sent it. You don't usually train with your phone in your pocket.
This does not in any way excuse anyone who tried to cover it up by pressure the girls or her family or the friend who was involved in the pizza gate.

They could have been told about it.
By who?

Cipres' phone was hacked right at the time somebody messaged him requesting a picture of his penis and said hacker decided to comply? That seems decidedly unlikely. And unless Cipres' phone has no password, a person couldn't just pick it up and use it.

Another one justifying Cipres’ behavior - just shrug it off because he is in his 20s? The young girl was traumatized from what I gathered from the articles. Her parents and the psychologist got involvedbevause they were concerned. You are saying it’s no big deal. Is this what you expect SS to say in their report? Just because a certain age group does this sort of thing, it should be accepted by all?

You are the absolute queen of reading what you want to. I didn’t say anything of the type and since you are on board patrol daily, please refer to all of the other posts I’ve made in this thread. I’m not excusing Morgan’s actions in the slightest.

The thread has drifted, and this was in direct reply to social behavior.

Your arrogance is amazing. Just about everyone fsuers or not processes information based on their own experiences and beliefs. None of us is perfect so no need to call me “queen of...”. You claim to be so perfect! You are not, as your latest post proves.

I was responding to one particular post by a certain poster and your defense of her. It had nothing to do with your earlier posts. I will stand by my statement.

I don’t understand this reply.

I think the major separation in this thread (which is drifting) is that some people just absolutely cannot comprehend that things (can) happen— seemingly because they don’t occur in the ‘bubble’ of their own worlds. Therefore, their attitudes are that it must not be common or it’s not normal.

I don’t think anyone here is acting like they are better than anyone else, but I do think some people are much more understanding that behavior and norms extend past what we surround ourselves with, either by choice or by profession or whatever.

Not having experienced something, or not knowing something is a "thing" doesn't equate to not comprehending that it exists.

I am curious. What kinds of behavior and norms are you talking about? I would hate to think that abusing children with d*ck pics is normative behavior.

Well, again, if the article is to be believed - that it happened at all was not at issue and they do not seem to have been claiming it was sent in error. What she proceeded to do about it was, hence the need to have her see the light of what would happen if she was to report it.

So your original post, which accuses me of defending Cipres which was clearly not the case, is being stood by? I’m arrogant, intelligent, and so perfect according to you, but you can’t even spend a minute to see that your reply was assuming something wildly incorrect? Got it.

And sorry, I guess I can never assume it’s one of your ‘This post doesn’t belong in this section!! Moderators!!’ days or if you’ve gone back to ‘I don’t have time to watch this now’ days.

This was truly an iconic moment on FSU.

Well, anything is possible. A phone can certainly be hacked, and pictures can be sent out. I don't quite get how a person would know to send the picture to this girl. If the pic was sent to all the students, that might be more credible.

Have you half-read the thread as well and skipped over the actual articles? If we are to believe his phone was hacked even for one second, then said hacker would’ve known to send the pictures because the victim was told to ask for them in order to get a reward.

Apparently it is very easy to do. And a lot of people do not put passwords. I am suggesting the person sent the message to the girls asking them to message the request for a picture and then he sent the picture. It looks like everyone concerned belonged to the rink. He also could have deleted the pic and messages off the phone. Of course I am just justifying a random thought but there are other scenario's that are possible as well. Fair is fair. If Cipres found out later his phone was hacked and something sent he would be in a precarious position. If it just blew over that would be better for his professional life for sure as even if he said that is what happened and he made an apology there would be those who said sure...that is what happened and when his name was brought up it would be ....isn't he the one who sent pictures to young ladies etc.....Again anyone who threatened, bribed or in anyway tried to influence the girls (if that is what happened) is guilty of something very serious.

Not that this is in the same league or indeed, trying to make light of a potentially career-ending situation.

But in terms of how easy it is to access someone's phone, I am reminded of a skating banquet a few years ago where one of the competitors took cheesy grin selfies on at least thirty devices sometimes without people finding out until days after the event.

Keep your phones with you at all times, or if you put them down for a moment in a public place, lock them!

Not to get super technical and drift the thread even more, but you can still access the camera on iPhones even when the password is on. Sending said photos is a different story, though.

ETA- If you have an iPhone, try it for yourself. On the lock screen, there is probably a little camera icon at the bottom right corner. Slide your finger to the left. Voila.

For Cipres phone to be hacked as has been suggested, the hacker would have had to know that there were dick pics on the phone, and know where to find them, to send in response to the request. Or the hacker would have had to physically take the phone to somewhere private and use the camera to take an, um, substitute picture to send.

Both of these seem highly implausible. Not to mention that if phone hacking was even vaguely possible it probably would have been mentioned in the denial issued by the PR person.

Yes, that's the most disturbing part of the allegations so far.

It's not that surprising that a man would send dirty photos to an underage girl because we know that happens a lot. What's more surprising is the allegations that Fontana & Zimmerman tried to cover up the girl's story. Sylvia & John have always had reputations as good people up until now, so it's disturbing if this turns out to be true.

I disagree because usually when a “star” or someone in a position of power is the one conducting such behavior, then it goes hand-in-hand with seemingly good people covering it up. So I don’t find one act worse or more shocking than the other. And if we’re going to act all shocked about John and Silvia’s behavior, then I rather not normalize Cipres’ behavior or treat it as a background detail.

Honestly, it seems like you’re trying to find ways to excuse Cipres’ behavior. It is way more likely that he did this than his phone being hacked.

So, the story is out there now.

Have there been any outraged denials from Ciprès, Zimmerman, Fontana, or Dispenza?

I don't see that at all.
Agreed. I have no idea where Vash01 came to that conclusion. Thread drift happened, and a debate started on the side about how prevalent it is for people to send and receive x-rated pics in various stages of knowing each other. It's clear to the rest of us that the people who are saying it's happening a lot for the younger generation are not saying it's ok for an adult to send such a pic to a minor.

Yes:
After USA TODAY Sports sought comment from Zimmerman, Fontana and Dispenza Monday, they issued a joint statement Tuesday afternoon following publication of this story:
“We are completely shocked by the recent allegations made in this article. We were not contacted by SafeSport and there are currently no claims against us. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of safety and professionalism. We deny the allegations and look forward to clearing up this matter which we take very seriously.”
(from updated article linked in post #437)

Let me try to summarize:

1. It seems very likely that Cipres sent dick pics to a child and that the coaching team at the rink tried to intimidate the victim into silence.
2. This is not remotely okay.
3. Many people today send dick pics, especially in certain contexts such as hookup apps but also on social media more broadly.
4. Such pics predate social media but their prevalence now means that sending/receiving them is more common for younger people (not always by choice).
5. Not all young people are involved in sending/receiving explicit pics and not everyone who gets them is young.
6. Not everyone here is familiar with the concept or has experienced it as prevalent because FSUers come from a range of backgrounds.
7. Sending unsolicited explicit photos is gross.
8. Sending them to children is never okay. If you have needs, deal with them with a consenting adult.
9. It is possible that Cipres and/or the coaches involved have a reasonable defense. It is also highly unlikely.

I think this about covers everything.

Cipres does. His phone was not hacked. Do not try to build scripts that could disculpate him. There is none. Zero.
Everybody involved was from the rink therefore unless his phone was in a locked locker they all had access. Also he knew pizzagate well so he could have seen him keying in said password and memorized it. How do you know he had a password? I am sure after finding out what happened he sure as h*ell has one now. Here is the thing....I have no idea what happened at all. But if here just reading this I can come up with a few alternate scenarios and I am a 68yr old not all that socially media savy female skating fan , I am not about to accuse, convict and punish someone which would include destroying his career in my head or written word without all the facts being known.
