Cross-posting from the U.S. Dance thread in GSD... Madi & Zach performed to "The Blower's Daughter" and "Make Me Feel" in the Saturday Night Ice Show in Lake Placid, New York this past weekend - article by Christie Sausa, published today: http://www.lakeplacidnews.com/page/...ating-stars-stop-in-Lake-Placid.html?nav=5074
Excerpt:
"We're 27. If we're going to keep skating, it's because we love it and we enjoy it," Hubbell said. "Yes it's our business, but sometimes as an athlete you become so involved in exact goals that you take the fun out of it and put more pressure on yourself than really what serves you. So if we can keep that hard-working mentality and professionalism and allow ourselves to have fun training every day, that's a nice way to spend the next four years of our career."
"I love that contrast because I feel the exact opposite," Donohue said. "I spent so many years enjoying it and not really dedicating myself as much as I should have and not understanding what it took to drive and push forward, whereas Maddie spent her time with Kiefer (Hubbell, Madison's brother and former partner) being driven and motivated, and I've learned that from her and kind of taken that on board. So now she's kind of balancing out my very job/goal-oriented attitude, keeping things light. It's a nice flipped contrast that we have with each other. It's added another depth and layer to the partnership."

Madi posted few sneak peeks of their new free dance on her Instagram stories

First impression is that the program looks to have an angsty/romantic feel? At least in these few seconds, maybe it transitions into something else throughout. I confess to be particularly paranoid about Chouinard's style becoming too predictable, with so many teams using him. I'll keep an open mind.

jackson - I don't think so. In my opinion, they are not only already past that age (when it's all right to skate to 'Romeo and Juliet') - it's just not them and their style which is more mature/grown up. Besides, there are many romantic and emotional love songs/musics out there with that romantic and angsty feel blancanieves mentioned that are also more mature than 'Romeo and Juliet'.

Still a bit surprising (as you could see from my previous post, I really did not expect them to use the 'Romeo and Juliet' theme), but I guess their 'Romeo and Juliet' will be somewhat different and more mature (than when younger skaters are using it) anyway.

And, yes, you were right, jackson :).

I'm very curious to see their take. It's a bit of a weird choice to me. Not so much because of the style - I wouldn't find it surprising to see them go for something soft and romantic - but because I always see Romeo and Juliet as quite young and innocent (in some ways). Especially Juliet.

Yes, I'm not thrilled by the FD music choice; it feels like every other season there's one program of theirs that I just don't get/like the music choice all that much. Hopefully the FD is good, but I expected something more creative/original. And I agree with @cocotaffy in that this feels a bit like a regression in terms of style evolution and maturity - I would have maybe expected this theme earlier in their career together, if ever. It doesn't seem suited to them now though.
