Even though my father grew up in College Park, Maryland (not far from the DC line) he always said he would only root for Maryland teams. He was always a Baltimore Orioles fan and Baltimore Colts fan (later a Ravens fan). His brother always rooted for the Senators and the Redskins (and later the Nationals). Back in th 70's I remember when the Redskins played the Miami Dolphins in the Super Bowl. My elementary school had a Redskins rally to celebrate. I and one other kid in my class refused to participate. The daughter of one of the Redskins was in kindergarten at our school at the time.
I watched the first couple US games. They have been really fun and the lineup is so good. But it’s embarrassing that they didn’t know the rules and almost got themselves eliminated. Thanks team Italy for the save!
