So is that Darian's first international senior medal as well as his first fully rotated triple axel in international competition? I'm pretty sure about the axel but cannot for the life of me remember re medals.

I didn't realise we had an Aussie girl in this week's JGP until the YouTube algorithm showed me her SP video, but now I'm absolutely charmed by Luna Shimogaki! She has lovely lines and very finished arm work for her level of experience, and I think she has tons of potential. Definitely one to keep an eye out for in the future!

Just so you know, South Australia temporarily and completely out of the blue lost access to its only ice rink, the Thebarton IceArena, last week due to (apparently) financial and political problems between the owners and the previous management. Luckily, though, Richard Laidlaw has been able to step in as new manager and the rink is once again open to figure skaters preparing for nationals and ice hockey players, as well as to the general public.

A solid team with skaters in every discipline. That hasn't happened since 2018.

Across the pond, sure, but I thought I should mention that Yanhao Li from NZL won bronze in the junior men's event at the 2024 Youth Olympics earlier today. What a talent!
