It's apparently a possibility if your mother's name is Eteri. I'm just relaying rumours here, so we'll have to see how the chips fall in the coming months and weeks. If the generous scoring continues etc. With Zagorsky/Guerreiro out, it's all being reshuffled. And some of the more senior teams are clearly vulnerable, if you look at their scores.By who rusfed? It's the Olympics you can't put weaker competitors on the national team in front of stronger competitors who give you a better chance to win a team gold medal or a dance medal. I can't see D and G being in the top 3 Russian dance teams this season let alone the top 2 and skating in the Olympic team event.
I actually think the coaching change can be good. Drew and Viktor employ off ice aerobic training, which I don't believe Alysa was doing in Italy. Thereto, I think the underrotations on the GP were likely due to stamina issues, and off ice (altitude) training can solve this problem.I really do not understand this decision from Alysa's father. Unfortunately, I don't see this improving her UR issues. More training will lead to more stress on that hip, which will lead to downtime and possibly career ending. She can get a medal from the Team event. She'd be lucky to finish in the top 10 at the Olympics.
Also, from what I understand, her new team have a very interactive approach: they lace up and physically guide Alysa through her jumps and choreography. This has to motivate her to excel during each and every training session.
Oops! Freudian SlipI don't think anyone was suggesting ending Alysa.![]()

I read that skaters who go to Lorenzo Magri actually show tons of improvement on their basic skating and other areas. There is no doubt that Colorado Springs has better facilities available than Oakland. I do think Italy was a mistake.
I know that when I was a recreational long distance runner, there were days that I just didn't have that "oomph." Running with my track club mates motivated me to excel even when I didn't feel like getting out there. Sometimes we all need that extra encouragement, even if we're an elite athlete. She wouldn't have accomplished what she has if she wasn't already "motivated to excel" when she was training.
Plus, not every training session is going to be motivational or excellent. They have their ups and downs. Some days are great, some days suck. That's reality. Having a bad day or an unmotivated day doesn't mean the skater isn't working hard enough or isn't serious enough. It means they're normal.

Sorry but it really looks like the fix is in. D/S have been competing almost every week& each competition there PCS are growing. Meanwhile teams who they thought would go M/B & Bazen are being shot down in the scoring each of the few times. D/S are sloppy and boring even though they have copies most of Tessa and scott's Moulin Rouge program which T/S won olympics with.....except they are not good skaters. Meanwhile Anabelle's skating skills and elements are breathtaking and they have been handed scrap scores. This could really happen but a lot of PPL would have to be involved in the skam....which they are. I used to love Igor but the way he is strutting around like chief rooster in the pen while his and Eteri's team are getting good marks for garbage & other teams are being abused.By who rusfed? Not sure what this has to do with Alysa switching her training base to Colorado, however the people who saw MorBag skate at SkAm and IdF both commented that they were appreciably slower than other teams and he clearly is a weak partner for her, not to mention their choreo covers the middle halves of the rink and doesn't really venture further beyond on the long ends. They aren't exactly making a strong case for an alternate spot ahead of DavSmo, SkopAle or KhudaBaz. Let's see how things play out in a couple weeks when MorBag & DavSmo are at Golden Spin, okay?Sorry but it really looks like the fix is in. Yuna Kim!Longer term and as adults, maybe. But teenagers? I didn't know a single teen skater elite or otherwise with back problems. Even internationally, the only skater that comes to mind as having back problems as a teen was Caroline Zhang - and given her pearl spin that's not entirely unexpected (though was that as a teen or around age 20?)
I hate it when things get political and I guess the Russian federation leaders are so arrogant it doesn't matter to them. I just wish Nastya G had some political power backing her back in the day when she was so promising a few years ago. But when great Russian Olympic champion Aexei Urmanov left nastya as her coach to move to Sochi Russia she was thrown to the wolves.Sorry but it really looks like the fix is in. D/S started the season with 115.42 in the FD at a US-based competition. The scores didn't quite stick then, so I'm not sure why people are claiming so matter-of-factly that they will stick now.Sometimes inflated scores set up part of the crowd for higher scores going forward, so we'll have to watch whether it sticks or sticks more and other competitors' scores go back to normal.
I’ll be sure to quote this when D/G receive their world bronze medals at Worlds this season;D/S started the season with 115.42 in the FD at a US-based competition. The scores didn't quite stick then, so I'm not sure why people are claiming so matter-of-factly that they will stick now.
And like I referenced: Muramoto/Takahashi supposedly improved nearly 11 points from a home competition one week to a competition in Poland the very next? It's Takahashi though, so surely some people here will think it's justified
ETA- For how many years have we talked about lenient technical panels or lenient judging panels in senior B/Challenger events where many teams magically get their minimums for Worlds? This happens.
You know I’ve reminded people of it many times this year. Lots to quote from meI’ll be sure to quote this when D/G receive their world bronze medals at Worlds this season;![]()

OT, but Nathan actually has the biggest monkey on the back of any American skater. Going all the way back to Dick Button, every American man who has entered the Olympics as the reigning World Champion has come home with gold, up to and including Evan Lysacek. If Nathan doesn’t bring home gold he will snap a very long streak. The pressure must be enormous. And we saw how well that went for Nathan Chen...
Yes, and don't think NBC doesn't know this and won't bring it up ad nauseum.OT, but Nathan actually has the biggest monkey on the back of any American skater. I've seen a lot of Nathan in commercials. Hopefully he just tunes everything out though.I was actually relieved that the Olympics commercials I saw were a lot more about other athletes. No Nathan or Alysa or any other skaters. Less pressure for them is good.
Ahhh, yes. I understand now. Yes, we haven't seen those as of yet. And honestly I hope they stay far away from Alysa because she does not need them trying to make more drama out of all this. Just let her skate.@Rukia I've seen clips of his skating, but not the same sort of interview style stuff I've seen with Sean White, Mikaela Shiffrin, and a few others.
Not yet. Wait for it…..it’s coming like an unstoppable runaway train!I was actually relieved that the Olympics commercials I saw were a lot more about other athletes. No Nathan or Alysa or any other skaters. Less pressure for them is good.
