Adelina Sotnikova: if I make something or someone is sick, I'm sick on the ice!

First in Russian and Soviet history Olympic champion in women's figure skating Adelina Sotnikova in an interview with "F-Sport" Mary Vorobevoj tells about a trip to the show in Japan, shares ideas and new productions recognized that wants to relive Olympic emotions.

- I ride a piece of a new free program and show room Come together.

-What is the theme chosen for an arbitrary program?
-Free I have the song Je suis malade performed by Lara Fabian. It may seem that music in my new programs with something similar, but on the mood, the emotions are different.

-Song Fabian took with words?
-Yes. I think this will bring some kind of novelty. Unusual sensations that will liven up the program, and maybe I even find it easier to roll the production.

- Main theme song - the pain of the loss of a loved one. You have the basis of the program a true story or brought something of their own?
- I read the translation of the song, I know about the history of what it refers. Perhaps I initially wanted to try to convey the feelings that are inherent in the song writer. But then I realized that if I did to someone or something is sick, then I'm sick on the ice (smiles).

If I did not want to compete, would be gone from the sport

- Why now you liking some heartbreaking theme? Miss Olympic emotions?
- Most likely, yes. After what I experienced at the Olympics, I want to once again experience these sensations. I think it even helps. I'll try to find myself needed adrenaline. When I ride a new voluntary program, feel great pleasure from it. A short drags me right, leads, thus easier for me to give emotions. Hopefully, in both productions I will like to merge with the music, become one.

- Compete something you want?
- Well, actually, I do want (laughs). If you'd rather not, would be gone from the sport. To us came to training specialists, looked track, and the whole program was evaluated. They said that I was very put on skating compared to what it was at the Olympics. Know how nice it was to hear it? Inside me is going on now! I want to work even harder to grow, showing only the best. I would even say that strive to achieve the perfect skate, to be really appreciated, will look at that and exclaim (smiles).

- In an interview with a colleague, we asked you, would you like to pick up the tradition of Carolina Kostner and create a spectacle on the ice. Then you answered somewhat vague, but judging by your new productions, and is now?
- I really became somehow conscious approach to productions programs. In fact, after the Olympics, I have matured ... I feel like I became a different attitude not only to sports, but also to life in general. I am now in a different look at my skating. I was hoping to see an improvement in Sotnikova's hunched shoulders... And I didn't see it.

I did see more genuine passion in her skating, so therefore I didn't in the end pay attention to the wretched hunched shoulders.

Fix yo' jank posture, miss honey. it's the only thing, the only thing! But boy oh boy does it ruin it for me. :-/

As a skating fan that has very little good to say about Sotnikova after the Olympics (I do need to be less harsh on her, it was the judges fault not hers)...I must say that her new SP is AMAZING and by amazing I mean up there with the best ladies programs this past quad.

She has clearly worked very hard on all aspects of her skating, and her interpretation is far ahead of anything she did last year (like I'm shocked). Comparing this test skate to those of Lipnitskaya, there is no contest. Sotnikova beats Lipnitskaya on every area of components. Leaving Lipnitskaya in the dust in Skating Skills and Performance. Her Interpretation is also imo much stronger that Lipnitskaya's. Her skating skills are to die for while posture is improving aswell.

...consider me a potential convert. I may one day be able to be a fan! I hope she continues the good work and carves some respect for herself into the skating community.

She looks beautiful here. Is it just me, or did anyone else think she was Sasha Cohen for a second? When I first opened the link I thought I was looking at Sasha!

They have the same coloring. She doesn't really look like Sasha, or skate like her either, but she has always kind of reminded me of her. It's kind of weird.

I believe that is Sotnikova's LP. It's frantic and the movement isn't filled-out enough, but I also quite like it. I am starting to sympathize with her but I won't be able to give into that sympathy until we reach 2015.

It needs to be filled out and much more refined because as is it looks a bit Simba, and it needs to be full-out Mufasa or it'll be flat and somewhat comedy like Mushu the dragon. Which is clearly the wrong movie for the occasion.

why do I always realize this is an über thread after one of my tirades and not beforehand.

She is a saint, a gem, a real gift.

DobrinFan, are there any reasons why Adelina skated the show version of LP this past weekend? And thank you very much for posting such many videos of new programs in GSD. I enjoyed them a lot.

She's still working on both the SP and the entire LP and so they're not ready to be presented to an audience just yet. She says she may do an upcoming Russian Cup event before her 1st GP event (there are 3 cup events prior to Rostelecom). She also said that its hard to find her fitness like in the previous season and that she's working hard to regain it. So she may not be able to physically get through the entire program as well.

Thanks for the information. That's what I assumed. Buianova also said she was exhausted after Olys. Well, they have time to be prepared for Rostelecom. My best wishes for them.

This season Adelina choose quite conservative costumes, I was looking forward to some other Victoria Secret 2.0 costume (I really loved her last year first costume for LP).
Did she start late her LP or the music didn't match proply with the video?

No, that's how she always started that program about 10 or so seconds after the music starts playing. Except here she is standing up versus kneeling on one leg like in her exhibitions.

Dunno why they hid her video, because it's very decent skate and her jumps are impressive. What's most important she looks fresh and relaxed (compare her to Gracie in that matter...)

Not bad, but not from Russians point of view. In a country where the majority of skaters at the nationals lands 3Lz-3T or 3F-3T this program may look a bit technically easy. Lovely huge jumps though. I like the program and I love her dress, but hopefully she will manage to get the harder jumps combinations and the axel sorted out before nationals, otherwise she will get buried. There is only so much the judges can do for her, and if Radionova, Lipnitskaya, Pogorilaya and Tuktamysheva all land their jumps, Adelina could be left off the team for Europeans.
