Good first half but ran out of gas second half.
What about Rio's performance?
I was trying shut out the outside noise but the whole stadium was shaking after his skate and I realised he must have done well.
On winning the Nationals father and son
When I won, dad cried for me, it has been a while since he did this. I am so happy for him.

So….who gets the second and third spots? Tsuboi or Sato based on BOW? Miura has now had a couple of bad comps in a row….

I just finished watching the Men's FS videos and, WOW, what emotions flowed. Okay, there was a fair amount of "menning" going on as several skaters had less than stellar days (for them). I was particularly gutted for Shun Sato. Nobunari brought me to tears with his absolute joy of skating. My goodness though ... the top 3 were stunningly good. Rio is a textbook perfect jumper and to think he's just barely turned 16 years old. What a future he has in front of him. And how exciting for Tatsuya to hold the lead for SO long. And .... then .... the utter brillance of the small man called Yuma. Without a doubt, my favorite skater in the world today. He wasn't perfect which means he can be even BETTER than he was at Nats (and how mind-boggling is THAT?). I was in tears AGAIN with the reaction of his Dad when he saw his son become National Men's Champion of Japan. That father-son hug was a MOMENT to remember. Oh ... wow .... I think it's going to take me awhile to settle down. It was a great way to spend a Sat. afternoon.

Well, I see that the men--at least those with the body of work to earn their way to Worlds--did their level best to leave it up to the panel to decide.

Thanks to everyone for the comments in the play-by-plays. I completely spaced Japanese Nationals this year. (Maybe because my time off started a bit later than usual, I dunno). Anyway, I hope they do choose to send Shun because I think the choreo--in the SP particularly--and his presentation is notably improved this season, and I like to see athletes get credit for striving for that improvement. That said, the Japanese Nationals pressure cooker did it's thing again; and hence, what the panel decides, the panel decides.

Shun Sato was selected by JSF for the World team along with Yuma Kagiyama & Tatsuya Tsuboi: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...eason-news-updates.111942/page-5#post-6706604
