24 Japan Nationals Men FP PBP

last year the last group of JPN in men was the best competition the World has ever seen. One amazing skate after another. I hope this last group is as mesmerizing as last year!

The intro and warm up for the 4th Group is starting.
Due to TV coverage is to be cut off, I will bid adieu for about an hour.
Good luck to those of you enjoying live streaming.
Regular channel coverage starting at 19:00 is now showing Tatsuya Tsuboi of the third group, perhaps the best skate of the 3rd group.

Tsuboi definitely has been slaying today.

And it looks like we're also being cut off from live coverage on the stream too. 😭

ETA - nope, I just needed to refresh my screen, lol.

Shun Sato

awwww bad bad fall - landed forward on the 4l and fall, took long time to get up
4flip step out - amazing will power to go into this jump at all!
4toe hands down
he fights
4toe3toe nice
3axel 3sal<< fall
3axel < no flow
3sal2a
ouch, that skate will hurt him - but I admire him to skate as well as he did after that first fall

thanks for your amazing coverage so far!

Sato - ooooooffff - awful fall on his opening quad! Turn out on his next quad; hand down on the third quad. I have Queen's "Under Pressure" playing through my head right now - which is better than his SP music. Oh, solid 4t+3t to get back on track, but then the 3a+3s falls on the 2nd jump. The fact that his TES is going to wind up higher than Miyake before the tech panel does their reviews is annoying.

I have no idea what the JSF is going to do with their Worlds spots after this hot effing mess of a program unless the other guys to come biff it worse.

Regular channel coverage showing teasers about figure skaters aiming for Milano Olympics!
Show us actual skating, please.
Slew of commercials...

Regular channel introducing commentaters Takeshi Honda and Shoma Uno and finally starts with.... Kosho Oshima!

blast from the past
Nobunari Oda

what an achievement to make it not only the Nationals but into the final group!

still glides like buttahhh
4toe< fall
3z
3axel euler 3sal maybe <
3loop
3a nice
his skate is noticable emptier between the jumps than from other skaters, not so many difficult transitions
feed freeze, missed a combo
3z 2a
very well done, Nobu!!! What an inspiration!

Oda - FYI - he does NOT have any CTES mins, so he's not in the mix for 4CCs or Worlds unless the JSF sends him out in early January to get them should he finish high enough for consideration.

Normally, I'd be bleching at some guy skating to "Angels", but somehow, the sentimentality of Oda using it is just so great that I can overcome my aversion. Some messy-ish jumping passes here, but I want him to finish out here with a Top 5 or 6.

FYI - Sato scored 148.90 in the FS, 230.80 overall - currently 4th

Oda - 150.15 in the FS, 234.68 overall - currently 2nd.

Tsuboi continues to slay!

Regular channel showing random flach back to Kozuka winning Nationals in 2010.
Slew of Commercials...

Miura - steps out on the opening 3a; elegant pop of a 4t into a 3t; and then a true elegant pop of another quad into a double. Hand down on the 2nd 3a but still manages to get a couple of singles off to complete a combo for basically no points. Soooooo, none of these guys want to go to Worlds. I did not have the 2022 Jr Worlds Men's Podium all competing at 2025 Worlds on my season's bingo card. Sure, Ilia & Misha were there, but Tatsuya was not...

Kao Miura

we still see Oda celebrating in the background while Kao is introduced, awwww ♥️

3a step out
3toe....
2sal oh my
3axel hand down 1toe
4toe 3toe, well done
4toe fall
3loop shaky 2a

another desaster skate
the pressure is sky high...

I fear that we are experiencing a delayed reaction from last year's fantastic series of skates.
I did not agree to sacrificing this year's event to some dastardly witchcraft, last year!
Since Tsuboi seems relatively immune, Kobe coaches are suspected.
Now being shown Amin Kataise...

I appreciate that Kazuki is trying to stand out, but this FS is so wtf in parts lol

Tomono - oh, that's right, the butterfly program... Still humming "Under Pressure" here in the PNW. Three jumping passes in and two falls. My God... "Titanic" may very well make it to Worlds! I can't even. Y'all read my snark about that program. Well, Kazuki's starting to get it slightly together here in the 2nd half. Oh, God... "Titanic" may be better. This nutso switch to the jazz is just bizarre. This program is utter trash. He better not be propped up to beat Tsuboi.
