Nakata - the only one in this last group too young for Worlds. Hey, look, a clean quad! And another clean quad - and he gives us a fist pump! Someone wants to win! It won't happen, because there's no way the judges will send Yuma to Worlds without the Japanese title to his name, but still... Great 3a! More fist pumps! Ohhhh, I bet he's wishing he had this kind of a skate two weeks ago in Grenoble! Audience is totally with him on the choreo sequence here at the end even if he's not quite giving us much pirate. And he gives us the Ilia Worlds 2024 closing flop!!!! Well done, Rio!!!!!

Kagiyama - how will he respond to the pressure? Good opening 4f; another solid 4s this weekend; clean 4t+3t; another combo; well, the JSF can breathe easy... Even if he falls apart for the rest of the program, he's got the title all stitched up already. See, there I typed that and he had a step out on the solo 4t; but came back with another solid triple; of course he then stumbles out of the landing on his last combo. Regardless, his TES is already higher than Rio with 4 elements to go. So, getting rid of the bull shirt was the magic sauce?

ETA - he's also paying homage to the Ilia Flop, lol.

all jumps landed with huge GOE but all had some fight in them,

he will win for sure and it looked good on the surface but that was a strenuous skate for him, he had to adjust nearly every jump and that costs strength.
but congrats to the title

Standing Ovation! Good for you, Nobunari!
First time I saw him skate was 2004 Japan Juniors which he won. Ladies was won by Mao Asada that year, with 3A and 3Lz+3Lo and 3F+3T...I could not stop shaking till six hours later!
Shoma really impressed with what Nobunari is doing at his age.
