Does von Felton have U.S. citizenship? And if not, then isn't she ineligible? I thought for single you have to be a citizen of the country you're representing (whereas for pairs and dance it's ok if one member of the team is not a citizen as long as the other is).
I used to think that, too, but no, you don’t have to have citizenship to represent a country in singles in non-Olympic international competition. Von Felton has already competed for the U.S. on the JGP. See Krasnozhon for a recent example of a non-citizen who represented the U.S. at junior worlds.
For internationals , including ISU competitions, singles need to be a resident in the country for which they are skating for at least a year, if they are not a citizen. That’s Rule 109 section 2a of the ISU Constitution. For Ice Dance and Pairs, that needs to be true of only one partner.
