2025 Skate Canada Pairs SP PBP - Carmina BOO-rana

Unpopular opinion but I like this program. 5000x better than their short last year, even. I don't think he has the intensity like she always has to really sell it and his footwork looks really really labored. Yes, the in betweens can be greatly improved but I still like it as a whole.

SDDes - 3tw - very nice; SBS 3t - no unison at all; throw 3lo - good; SBS spins - he's traveling all over the place but the synch looked decent; step seq - fine and it would be fine without the backflip, lol; lift - her O-face is outdoing Tanith's; BIDS - only got called a base level... hmmmmm... They're not going to like this score if that death spiral call holds.

I think it works as a whole and still has a lot of room to build through the season

Deanna Stellato-Dudek/Maxime Deschamps 🇨🇦
Coach: J. Picard, S. Winter, J. Marcotte, S. Yvars
Music: Carmina Burana by Carl Orff

Triple Twist 4
3T - timing issue, Maxime's landing was tight
Throw 3Lo
Change Foot Combo Spin
4 (3 after review)
Step Sequence 4
Reverse Lasso Lift 4

Back Inside Death Spiral B (1 after review)

Maxime is still struggling to find the timing on that triple toeloop, and it looks like they struggled with keeping her head low enough on the death spiral. The backflip lift transition looked more hesitant this time.

73.03 = 1st Place

Second GP and second time saying I dislike that they end the program with the death spiral, it kills the momentum

Everything else was great :cheer: (except the sbs jumps)

Deanna and Max are trying hard, but none of the elements seem easy. The twist isn’t what it once was. The jumps are suddenly not even close to being in union. The throw is well done but very slow.

I hope they make it to February because they deserve to be Olympians, but this feels a little like we’re hanging on by a thread.

I like the program though.

How in the world is that an unpopular opinion?

I really like this for them too. Especially in comparison to last season. This just feels like it suits them and I think they can grow it enough through the season that it can do well at the Olympics.

Their music will never not remind me of that beer commercial though and I don't even drink alcohol.

It's y'know, fine! It's pretty good! Maybe people are just underwhelmed, after Deanna's whole "Three-score years ago and ten, I carved the music for my Olympic programmes into an oyster shell and buried it in the heart of the woods" thing.

Last GP outing the back flip was better timed with the music. Anyway, solid except for the poor sync on jumps.

Chris, enough with the “OMG SHE IS SO OLD HOW DOES SHE DO IT??????”

Compared to last season, it's a massive improvement.

I like the intensity of the music for them (her), but it's not quite soup yet. Hopefully they'll have some time off now to polish it.

I obviously did not pay much attention to Max's costume at their first GP, but it looks like he's celebrating the season by wearing something that he bought at Spirit Halloween and then embellished with KMT's bedazzler. :yikes:
He got both the Spirit Halloween and Bedazzler look, must have drawn the short straw among the pairs men. Someone had to wear each look...

I think in a perfect world, this team runs away with the sport but here we have what looks like a three-way battle between them, the Japanese, and now the Georgians.

This is just picture-perfect technique. Close together. No question on rotations. Flow out.
