2026 Worlds Pairs FS PBP - Loathe Story

In the arena Verner asked them “is this just the start, the middle or the finish of your journey?” and Nikita said they don’t know yet but they alluded to middle and no one said finish haha so hopefully that means they’re more likely to continue but who knows.

Oh Nikita, you'll never know...

With all the extensive German tutoring he went through to fast track his citizenship you'd think he'd get his use out of it!

Big congratulations to Hase & Volodin. Loved this pair for a long time now. Happy they could deliver here when the door was open. Such a classy pair!

Also thrilled for Lia & Trent. And loved their reaction to their skate and the scores.

Glad Efimova & Mitrofanov skated very well despite the jumps. Loved that program for them.

And for the Japanese team to redeem themselves from the Olympics.

Because many of them are too young to have discovered Meatloaf, but I have hope for next season !
OMG I've just been relistening (for the umpteenth time) to the entire Bat Out of Hell album wishing someone, anyone would skate to it, any of it. It's so iconic and brilliant. Paradise by the dashboard lights! :swoon: A whole new generation should be introduced to Meatloaf and that album.

Thank You @victorskid for posting results/scores/links to protocols! :)

The 2 Canadian teams skated the reverse each other - Pereira/Michaud were 2nd in the Free and 3rd overall while Laurin/Ethier were 3rd last in the Free and 2nd last overall (of those who skated the Free)
Does GEM put individual replays up after the event finishes? I know ISU does but, of course, Canadians are BANNED from watching this Worlds there!
I haven't found anything on GEM, but CBC sports has been putting up 2 individual videos per segment so far. I'll post those links in the Streaming thread shortly. They should probably also be up on CBC Sport's YouTube page.

Blame Savin & Klimov. All of their teams have dreadfully boring free skates, especially this season.
H/V and P/S both had outsider choreographers this season, and both long programs were done by Benoit.
Benoit also choreographed the Georgians phone call LP

For Savin’s teams, their “home” choreographer is Sofia Evdokimova, but she had only choreographed for the Armenians

Long Program’s results were made for me :inavoid:

Really happy for Minerva and Nikita, hope they continue for the next Oly cycle and get all the money German NOC have.

Have loved Yuna and Sumi since the first time I saw them and especially since last year’s 4 Conts. The raw potential they have is amazing, and kudos to Savin/team for helping them to show it.
Hopefully, way more to come in the next 4 year

Lia and Trennt :encore:
Didn’t believe they could keep up with the pressure, but so happy to be wrong

Well no 3 spots for the US and to be honest we don't need that many spots especially if there are any more breakups or retirements among the top teams which will leave little depth. P/M on the other hand have really come on in the last couple of months and might make it a easy decision for S/D to retire since they have now firmly established themselves as Canadian Pair team number one and are much younger ands will only get better.

Please let Chan/Howe go this route. What a bookend free skate to their Nationals SP disaster. I realize they didn't have a lot of notice about competing, but they could have just declined and the US made a wiser decision in just giving up a spot.

The Japanese pair of Yuna and Sumitada were my favorite in both programs. Their speed and dynamic performance level was brilliant even last year at Worlds where they didn't even make the free skate. Hopefully this gives them the confidence to be more consistent, they had a strong season until Milan, so this was a great rebound. And while the top 5 were all strong technically, none really moved me emotionally. I miss when pairs could be super athletic and great storytellers at the same time.

Needless to say, I agree with you about Chan/Howe. As for their not having much notice, read the interviews with Sarah and Jacob in their respective threads; they did very well on little notice (although thanks to Bradie, Sarah at least knew she could be called upon.)

And I think there were never a lot of pairs who could storytell, one or two a generation. It’s a big reason I prefer dance, pairs is athletically challenging and artistically barely there for all but a few top teams.

I think anyone who is an alternative for the Worlds after an Olympics should be ready to go at a moment's notice. There are a lot of withdrawals for those Worlds.

Do we know for sure that Chan/Howe weren't training during this time or are people assuming?

They said after the SP they hadn't been really training but they had been skating & staying active. They performed their SP at Ice Chips the 1st weekend of March & are obviously preparing for SOI.

It doesn't sound like ANY of the alternates had much information/contact from the USFS before they were notified they were going to Prague. Even Sarah sounded like she didn't realize Bradie had declined the 1st Alt spot until Alysa withdrew. Clearly, Sarah had the most time to prepare, and Jacob at least was just coming off of Jr Worlds 3 weeks ago. The only alternates who I think have been training with any expectation of going to Prague are GreenP because it was obvious as could be that ChoBat's last competition would be Milano.

Dropping to 2 pairs next season isn't ideal buy it isn't the worst thing in the world for the US. I'd rather it be the 1st season of the new cycle than the 3rd like we had this past Olympic cycle.

Also, all the ChanHowe detractors are just going to have to suck it for at least one more season. See their post-FS comments shared in the US Pairs thread. 😍
