2025 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston

For those a bit nervous about flying, the bigger the airline, the bigger the plane, the more experienced the crew. Regional planes flown by subsidiaries of the major airlines have well qualified crew, but they tend to be younger. As for flying into Logan, it’s a risk averse airport. They won’t let you land on a runway that has traction issues.

Just FYI in case anyone had this on their tourist itinerary for the week. I went in 2016 and had been thinking about going again.

Local news just reported that it will reopen tomorrow. The National Archives is the government branch that staffs it and they have options to pull staff from other facilities in Boston. Watch for restricted hours, though.

Completely unrelated to the skating, but I'm considering going to the New England Aquarium on one of my early days of travel before the skating starts. Is it worth the lofty admission price, New Englanders?
I live in Greater Boston and have been like 4 times, however I used to work in Seaport and would walk by the aquarium to see the outdoor sea lions. Museum of science is also fun.

YMMV but as someone who lives in Greater Boston, I would probably prioritize the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum over other tourist attractions. It's the most distinctive. The MFA is terrific and has wonderful exhibits and 100% worth a visit, but the overall look and ambience is not unlike other art museums. Whereas the Gardner is unique and also has an amazing collection if you're into art. My second favorite Boston recommendation would be just ambling through the North End and getting dinner and a cannoli at Mike's Pastry. The Aquarium is nice, I've been a few times, but it does tend to be very crowded, which detracts a little from the experience. The nearby Institute of Contemporary Art is a nice space and interesting (I've only been once but would like to go back).

The sweeper uniforms are really classy. They're giving me hope we may have a decent Kiss 'n Cry. Thoughts, @AngieNikodinovLove (ANL)?

Yes. They are indeed better than what they normally are, but do we know if these are final?

Wouldn’t it be funny if the sweepers were us members from FSU?

Have any other international attendees having trouble getting their tickets into Ticketmaster? They are showing up in my TD Hub app and I’ve linked that to my Ticketmaster app. I’ve also tried changing my Ticketmaster setting to the US but the tickets still aren’t showing up.

Mine are solely in the TD Garden Hub app. The only thing in TM is the record of the purchase.

Saw this in current email from the organizing group

Practice Ice Seating
General Admission (GA) seating will be available within a reserved area in the lower bowl during practice ice sessions. Even if your practice pass reads that you have the same seat as your event tickets, seating for all practice sessions will be general admission and limited to a reserved area in the lower bowl. This is so TD Garden housekeeping and cleaning teams can turn the arena over more quickly for the start of each competition.

I LOL'd at this in the most recent email:

Prohibited Items

Please refer to TD Garden’s event policies webpage (linked here) for information on prohibited items. We’d like to specifically draw attention to three prohibited items:

  • Laptop computers and/or tablets
  • Large banners, flags, or signs
  • Bottles or containers (including reusable water bottles)

What else would one bring to a world championships?

Wait did I read that site right and the flags and banners we bring can only be 8.5 x 11???? that's so tiny
It’s a shame, too. I love to see the flags of the competitors’ home nations flying as they are introduced and as they take their bows, and I think the competitors appreciate it, too—especially when they are far from home, competing in a foreign country.

This supposed flag rule cannot actually be true, can it? Fans need to flood TD Garden & the Boston 2025 organizers with pictures of their OBVIOUS hypocrisy since I saw PLENTY of standard size American & Canadian flags being waved in that very arena last night during the 4-Nations Face Off.

The site actually says "signs and banners". Flags are different & one would presume they are not subject to the same size restriction. Especially since, as I noted above, there were plenty of standard size flags being waved & draped over shoulders last night during the hockey game.

Further support for my belief that "signs and banners" does not include flags, two bullets above the sign max is a bullet that says "large banners, flags or signs".
  • Large banners, flags, or signs
  • Inappropriate attire or signage
  • Signs 8 ½ x 11” or under that adhere to the Code of Conduct are permitted inside TD Garden. TD Garden management may prohibit and confiscate signs that violate the Code of Conduct or are not event-related, excessive in size or contain indecent or derogatory comments or images, political statements, or commercial references. Signs and banners may not be hung anywhere in the Garden or displayed in any way that obstructs the view of others or advertising signage. No signs or banners with poles or sticks are permitted.

It says "Large banners, flags, or signs" under prohibited items, but then the only size indication given as acceptable on the page is 8.5 x 11. If that's not the case with flags it needs to be clearer.

Agreed - and perhaps someone will contact them to clarify (I'm not going, so it won't affect me). But, like I said, based on the 4 Nations Face-Off games there this week, I don't think that standard size flags are prohibited. But, you can't plan on going all Keegan Messing with your flags there, lol.

I have 2 flags that are 24x36 inches. I plan on waving them when the skaters are introduced and when they are taking their bows. In between, they fold neatly in my lap/bag. I have a hard time envisioning an usher telling me not to wave them....and in any event, by the time they got to my seat, I would probably have them folded.

I agree with Karen.

Yeah, I don’t see flags being an issue if you fold them up after waving. It’s not like they will have you unfold and measure each upon entry.

I’m thinking that is more for signs and posters that someone would try and wave the whole time, blocking someone’s view.

Foam board signs are a particular problem as it’s pretty easy to poke someone in the eye.
I think they will be tolerant of anything you can fold or roll up.
