Per Wikipedia, the capacity at TD Garden for ice hockey is 17,850. For figure skating it’s less than that due to K&C and all the seat kills for TV and the judges, so I think the max would be 17K if that much. But also there were 9 events if you count the gala.
Well, 17k x 9 = 153,000 - so I do think the 110,000 attendance figure seems accurate if you subtract approximately 7500 for the lower attendance at the afternoon sessions Wed, Thu & Fri and the gala. The reporting was that the Women's FS, FD and Men's FS were entirely sold out.

The arena capacity for 2016 Worlds was 15,000. The 2019 renovation added 300 seats or so.

Mens FS was packed to the brim, ladies FS had a small number of empty seats in the corner nosebleeds but virtually a sellout. FD attenance was a bit thin in the ends of the upper bowl and packed but not totally sold out in the lower.

Pairs FS, mens and ladies SP all generated sizable crowds and were quite full in the lower bowl. Pairs SP and RD were the smallest crowds, as expected.

There was a precedent for TV: you can see it in older broadcasts just as the skaters came off the ice, huffing and puffing, and even while waiting for the scores. It wasn’t broadcast in the arena, though.

I'm still pissed about 1988 Olympics when David Santee stuck that mic in Brian Orser's face literally 2 seconds after he found out he got second and that awful 'I have good news and bad news' comment. I was so glad when they got rid of that reporter in K&C crap. Give them a damn minute to process what just happened with their Team whether it be good or bad.

I remember that. I was 16 and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was thrilled that Brian B won but was like, what the.... Who does/asks that?

Don't forget, just because a seat is empty doesn't mean the ticket wasn't sold. I think they count attendance by tickets sold and not who actually shows up.

They did a couple of interviews with skaters who had bad skates. I remember one they said was a lesson in perseverance or something like that. I couldn’t believe they were bothering people in that situation.

I know she didn't talk to Torgashev or ask him questions after his free skate, but she did sit near Raf and say something about learning from experiences and then asked the crowd to show Torgs some support.

A word about this -- post-renovation the seats are so tight. No one I talked to remembered it being so uncomfortable in 2016. Then I recalled that when I was first choosing my seats this time I saw some old maps where the row I was in ran seats 1-18. Post-reno that same row now runs seats 1-20. Two additional seats was too much to cram into that row; don't know how bad it was in the non-loge sections. My plane seat on Southwest had more room. I went to a concert at The Sphere over the weekend and those seats had more room. Just something to be aware of for future events there if you have any aversions to very tight quarters.

Yes, the seats were tight. My friend is not small, but not that large and it was a challenge for her to fit. I felt like I had just barely enough room.
