Switzerland – oh, one of those whisper-breathy singers, except she has more than enough power & talent that she could succeed without the affectation. I do not get the staging for this at all. This song is kind of meh. My mid-tier is growing.

Malta – catchy beat; I’m calling her Sunflower Thumbelina thanks to this dress, lol. Oh, she lost the dress and I’m not a fan. She reminds me of the UK entry – good stage presence, not the greatest of singers. Song isn’t quite as interesting as the UK one though. Still, she can join the ranks of the mid-tier.

ETA - on second thought, I'll drop her down to the Finland, Lithuania, Poland level.

Like Italy, Portugal does its own thing at Eurovision and it works for them. Can’t argue with five straight qualifiers.

Portugal – oh, this is a boring, very earnest ballad-y beginning; and just when you think he’s going to break into something more energetic, he stays in the same ballad-y lane, twice now. How many times will he tease something that isn’t just a very ‘90s smooth jazz, adult contemporary vibe? Even the set production is dated. Nope. He can sing though, so he goes with Finland, Lithuania, Poland & Malta.

Sissal is the first Faroese singer to take part in a Eurovision final.

I watched a video of her singing this acoustic and slowed down the other day. She's an AMAZING singer. I love love love this.

Denmark – she sort of resembles Kelly Clarkson pre-Ozempic. Not quite as great a voice as Kelly, but passable. Of the three plus-size, leotard-and-thigh-high-boots-sporting entries, she’s actually the best singer, though her song is boring. She rises to mid-tier.

Fun fact: The first three letters from Sweden and Denmark spell SweDen and the remaining letters spell denmark.

I think Spain/Denmark/Finland are too similar but all excel in different areas. Maybe Denmark had better vocals, Finland is the better song and Spain rocked the leotard best.
